President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, informing about new support packages for our country from Germany and Finland as well as about the strengthening of our air defense.
"I wish health to all dear Ukrainians,
This week is coming to an end—the week before Christmas. A week that made us, our country, Ukraine, even stronger.
It's important, as always, to express gratitude for the week's outcomes. There are new support packages. Germany: "Leopards," anti-aircraft systems and shells—caliber 155—as well as other necessary weapons. Thank you! The Netherlands: a package worth more than 100 million euros that will help our resilience. Thank you! Finland: the 21st aid package—specifically military support—and also worth more than 100 million euros. I am grateful!
The potential of US sanctions has been increased. There are decisions regarding financial institutions that help Russia evade sanctions and cooperate with terrorist arms manufacturers. New sanctions against those who assist Russia in exporting oil in violation of price caps have also been imposed. Pressing on these Russian connections with accomplices is especially important. I am grateful for this. We expect the approval of the next year's American support package, and I am grateful to representatives from both parties for understanding that a decision must be made.
This week we once again demonstrated how effectively our air defense has been strengthened. Not only to protect cities and villages from Russian drones and rockets but also for frontline operations. The ability to shoot down Russian artillery is one of the keys to ending this war, to a just conclusion. I thank all partners who are already helping us with this and those preparing steps in support for next year.
And of course, our soldiers. Combat brigades on all fronts, from Kharkiv to Kherson. And at the border—those who defend against Russian DPGs, those who destroy "shaheds," those who hold our borders. I thank you all!
Today, in particular, I want to highlight the boys of the 128th Separate Mountain-Storm Brigade. Soldier Vasyl Polischuk and Sergeant Oleh Bernadsky—both extremely effective, both wounded, both exemplary brave. Thank you! Rifleman Oleksiy Kopitsya from the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade—now on the Avdiivka front, defensive battles and southern offensives, heroic storming actions. Thank you, soldier! Soldier Ivan Kireyev of the 56th Separate Motor-Rifle Mariupol Brigade—a thank you for your Cossack bravery and saving comrades! The 92nd Separate Assault Brigade—soldier Yevhen Lisovenko and Senior Sergeant Konstantin Volokonsky. Thank you, boys, for your decisiveness and actions that save the lives of your comrades! 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade—soldier Mykhailo Karpyuk, senior soldier Vladimir Lebedev and senior lieutenant Oleh Krivenko. Boys, tank crew, thank you for successfully destroying occupiers and for being a strong team! Well done!
One more thing.
There are new sanctions decisions by Ukraine: I signed the relevant decrees, they have already been published. This involves over 130 legal entities and more than 20 individuals. Those who work for Russian aggression, those who help it, those who took a despicable path of collaboration with a terrorist state. They will all answer for their actions.
We will defend Ukraine. I thank everyone who is with Ukraine!
Glory to Ukraine!"
