At the start of the mini-tournament in Group 3, blue-and-yellow teams drew with Finland (2:2), and then faced the hosts from Liechtenstein. The game took place at the "Sportpark Eschen-Maurer" stadium in Eschen.

The Ukrainians quickly established a comfortable lead. First, Stepanov scored off a pass from his teammate on the left flank, then Bogdanov outmaneuvered the goalkeeper with a brilliant shot from long range. At the 21st minute, Stepanov completed his brace by heading in Dragans' free-kick delivery. Before halftime, Dragans himself scored a penalty.
