The Ukrainian Deaflympics team became the champion of the 2023 World Championship

In the city of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), from September 23 to October 7, the World Cup for deaf football players was held.

The World Cup for deaf football players was held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from September 23 to October 7. Nineteen national teams participated.

The Ukrainian team was drawn into Group B, where they defeated Thailand (6:0), drew with Senegal (2:2), and beat Argentina (5:0). In the round of 16, blue-and-yellow overcame Nigeria (2:0), and in the quarter-finals — Iran (3:0). In the semi-final, Ukrainians won against Senegal on penalties (1:1, p. p. 8:7).

In the decisive match, our team faced Japan. The blue-and-yellow triumphed with a score of 2:1 and became world champions.

Composition of the Ukrainian team: Oleksandr Hontar, Dmytro Senyko, Mykhailo Polyanskyy, Dmytro Doktenko, Maxim Vodolaga, Volodymyr Ryi, Oleksandr Olenych, Oleksandr Vereshchaka (playing coach), Igor Reutov, Dmytro Ukrayinec, Leonid Morozov, Shalva Mchedlishvili, Kostyantyn Voychenko, Renat Bezpaluk, Serhiy Bayev, Dmytro Beiusov, Roman Striyskyi, Viacheslav Bragin, Yaroslav Kotlyarov, Dmytro Klementiev, Oleh Hrynyuk, Serhiy Klochko. 

We add that in 2012 the Ukrainian deaflympic team became a bronze medalist of the World Cup in Turkey, and in 2009 and 2022 it was the champion of the Deaflympics.
