The Ukrainian Football Association has addressed UEFA with an official letter requesting to review the situation regarding the appointment of referees from the aggressor country for matches under the auspices of the European football union.

"It became known from the official UEFA website that a Russian referee team has been appointed for a Women's Nations League match between Armenia and Kazakhstan, which will take place on September 26."

As is known, on February 28, 2022, the UEFA Executive Committee adopted a decision according to which all Russian teams, whether national or club, would be excluded from participating in UEFA competitions until further notice. This decision has been respected and implemented by all competition participants over the past year and a half, and its legality was successfully proven in CAS.

At the same time, considering that for one and a half years official representatives from Russia have not been appointed to UEFA matches, this mentioned decision causes outrage in Ukraine, where Russian Federation war crimes continue daily.

In light of this, the Ukrainian Football Association expresses its protest against the appointment of a Russian referee team for the Women's Nations League match.

To adhere to humanitarian values and justice inherent in the European football family, as well as to ensure the consistency of UEFA's peacekeeping position regarding the regulation of involvement in European football by representatives of Russia, we kindly ask you to carefully review the situation and consider the possibility of excluding representatives of a terrorist state from matches under the auspices of UEFA," — particularly states the letter of the UAF.
