President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, informing about a rescue operation in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast and the return from captivity of another 22 of our soldiers.
"Dear Ukrainians,
A rescue operation is currently underway in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast. Following Russian missile strikes. "Iskander" missiles against ordinary residential buildings. All our services are working on the ground.
Unfortunately, there are victims. There are injured and fatalities. My condolences to loved ones... From a subsequent missile strike, unfortunately, one of our DSNS colleagues is deceased. Colonel Andriy Omelchenko, deputy head of the DSNS in Donetsk Oblast. Eternal memory...
And I want to specifically highlight today's rescuers. Our DSNS workers. Those who work across Ukraine cities for life. So that Russian terror loses, because life is saved.
DSNS workers from Kherson Oblast: Sergeant of Civil Defense Vitaliy Murzenko and Lieutenant of Civil Defense Volodymyr Yavtushenko. DSNS workers from our Kharkiv region: Master-Sergeant of Civil Defense Serhiy Gladkyi and Colonel of Civil Defense Andriy Solianikov. DSNS workers from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast: Sergeant of Civil Defense Kostiantyn Poturayko and Captain of Civil Defense Vitaliy Denysenko.
All have repeatedly participated - directly participated - in the liquidation of terrorist attacks consequences, in rescuing our people's lives. And, of course, all DSNS workers from Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa region. I thank everyone at DSNS Ukraine!
Today there is an important result for our team working on exchanges. Another 22 men are home in Ukraine. Twenty of them - soldiers and sergeants, two - officers. Soldiers of the Armed Forces. Among them are injured. They were captured at various front lines. But now they are home. And we will do everything to bring back all our people who are currently in Russian captivity. We remember everyone and search for each one listed as missing.
Fortunately, it is possible to return our men. And importantly, this is a joint task. A task of those organizing exchanges. Yermak, Budanov, Maliuk, Klimenko - thank you, guys! And the task of those who replenish the exchange fund for our state. Each one taking occupiers into captivity on the front line, active at the frontline - each such soldier speeds up freedom for Ukrainians. It is important to remember this.
This day began with a situation report meeting. First of all, military. Report on the situation at the front - our offensive actions, opportunities for movement and dynamics of movement. The Chief reported.
Of course, there were reports about ammunition supply and equipment, about our weapons production. Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Strategic Industries. We are constantly increasing volumes! Both in supplies and in production. And we are constantly reducing bureaucracy, making regulations more flexible. Our defense-industrial complex will reach the level needed by the state. Ukraine has this strength. And I thank everyone working on Ukrainian production for this strength!
The front. I would like to highlight the Bakhmut direction. 3rd and 5th Separate Assault Brigades, National Police Assault Brigade "Lut," 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. There are successes in destroying occupiers, important successes. Thank you, soldiers!
One more thing.
August 7. Every year on this day the world remembers Russia's aggression against Georgia. Already 15 years have passed. Russian occupation remains - this wound on the body of the Georgian state remains. Many words have already been said about how if the world had been resolute then, in 2008, many things would be different. Russia should have understood back then that the aggressor pays the most for aggression. It must understand this now.
When Ukraine wins this war, it will not only stop the expansion of Russian aggressive appetites but also save other nations from what we are experiencing - and Ukraine, and Georgia, and Moldova. Our victory will return normalcy to all - remove Russian occupation.
Ukrainians stand in solidarity with the people of Georgia, and I thank all citizens of Georgia who together with us defend freedom! Especially those fighting as part of Ukraine's defense forces!
Freedom will win, Georgia will win, Ukraine will win!
Glory to Ukraine!"
