Veterans of Ternopil "Niva" and Lviv "Karpaty" met in a friendly match, thus marking the 45th anniversary of the founding of the "yellow-green" club. At the commemorative event, First Vice President of the Ukrainian Football Association Oleksiy Mykhaylichenko presented honorary certificates to the participants of the match.

Exactly 45 years ago, on July 23, 1978, Ternopil "Niva," which was then based in Pidhajtsi, played its first official match in the regional cup tournament. The match took place in the village of Velkyi Haid and it was there that yesterday, to mark the anniversary date, a friendly match between veterans of Ternopil "Niva" and Lviv "Karpaty" was held.

The meeting included legends of Ternopil football — long-time captain Igor Bisкуп, who played 551 matches for "Niva" and scored 56 goals, top scorer Igor Yavorsky with his record of 272 games and 152 goals, and Volodymyr Venhrynovych, who defended the colors of "Niva" in 363 matches, scoring 50 times.

The match between veterans was held in a friendly atmosphere and ended with an exciting draw — 4:4.

"Ternopil 'Niva' has always been an interesting and tough opponent, with its own playing style. I am happy to congratulate the club on its anniversary, wishing it new victories in the future, supporters more positive emotions, and all of us — peace and a common victory," said Oleksiy Mykhaylichenko.
