The Ukrainian beach soccer team today played the semifinal match of the tournament for 5th–8th place at the III European Games against Azerbaijan.

The players coached by Mykola Kostenko and Oleksandr Korniychuk finished third in Group V and are competing for 5th–8th place at the III European Games in Tarnów.

Recall that in the group stage, our team lost to Italy (6:5) and Moldova (6:5) and drew with Switzerland (2:4). As a result, three teams accumulated six points each, but additional indicators led Italy and Switzerland to the semifinals.

Today's match against Azerbaijan started not very well for Ukraine. However, despite conceding an early goal in the first minute, our players managed to win the first period thanks to goals from Oleksandr Poslavskyi and Oleg Zborovskii.

In the second 12-minute period, Andriy Pashko and Dmytro Voytenko extended Ukraine's lead by three goals. However, in the third period, Azerbaijan put up a real fight and parity was maintained. The goals of Oleksandr Poslavskyi, who scored two, and Dmytro Voytenko were not enough to secure victory in regular time — 6:6.

In overtime, the only goal by Amid Nazarov decided everything. As a result, Ukraine lost 6:7. Tomorrow our team will play for seventh place against Poland (match start at 13:30 Kyiv time).
