Oleg Protasov: "We will win — both on the military front and on the football field!"
Today, the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Lviv ruled to arrest Andriy Pavelka, president of the UAF.
"We at the Ukrainian Football Association consider this decision to be without any legal basis and politically motivated, and our lawyers have already filed an appeal. The transfer of the case from Kyiv to Lviv and the speed with which the decision was made raises questions not only among lawyers but also among ordinary people who are unfamiliar with legal intricacies."
Also, the UAF's lawyers will appeal to international institutions in order to prove the groundlessness of Andriy Pavelko's arrest, who is also a member of UEFA's Executive Committee. Additionally, documents are being prepared for submission to the European Court of Human Rights.
As for the activities of UAF, they continue as usual. The national team is preparing for Euro 2024 qualifiers, while the youth teams prepare for the start of Euro 2023 (U-21). Other departments are working on renewing competitions in the next season. By the way, I would like to remind you that it was Andriy Pavelko who made it possible for us to hold the previous — unique! — championship under wartime conditions.
Therefore, we appeal to all representatives of the football community. Keep calm! We will win on both the military and the football front! It's all for Ukraine!" — commented Oleh Protasov, First Vice President of the Ukrainian Football Association.
