President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about the meeting of the General Staff and the situation at the front lines as well as an important ruling by the Supreme Court of the Netherlands regarding the collection of "Scythian gold."
"I wish health to all dear Ukrainians!
Just held a meeting of the General Staff. The situation at the front lines is the main focus. Reports from operational commanders, heads of departments, GUR, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Strategic Industries and Trade, Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Attention is concentrated on all fronts where our actions are needed and where the enemy may suffer various setbacks. Our defensive actions, active operations, our gains at the front lines.
Discussed in detail the supply and distribution of ammunition, strengthening our artillery and air defense systems.
Spoke today with the Prime Ministers of Japan and the Netherlands.
Informed them about our rescue operation in southern regions, about our urgent needs. Our partners are ready to help Ukraine, and I am grateful for that. There are decisions regarding humanitarian aid packages.
With Mr. Prime Minister of Japan, we discussed the preparation of the Global Peace Summit and a conference in Japan on rebuilding and transforming our country after military operations.
With Mr. Prime Minister of the Netherlands, we talked about further defense cooperation, coordinated our positions ahead of the next "Ramstein." We are moving step by step to strengthen our air shield. Discussed the coalition of "patriots," training our pilots.
Today there is a very important ruling by the Supreme Court of the Netherlands regarding the collection of "Scythian gold." Ukrainian collection. A collection that was stored in our Crimea but which cannot yet be returned to Crimea for obvious reasons: it cannot be handed over to an occupier, a looter.
Of course, it will be in Crimea when the Ukrainian flag is flying there again.
Indeed, this logic was confirmed by the higher court of the Netherlands. And this is another proof that Dutch people, society and state really know how to lead in defending the rule of law and civilized values.
I thank everyone who fought for this decision, our team from the Ministry of Justice who worked towards this result. We will defend justice step by step.
Today there is also a new package of military support from the United States worth over 2 billion dollars. Missiles for "Patriots" and other air defense systems, strengthening our ground defenses, increasing the strength of all our soldiers. Thank you, Mr. President Biden, thank both parties in Congress and all Americans who want freedom to triumph just as Ukrainians do.
Of course, throughout the day I receive reports about the rescue operation in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, about the state of the Kakhovska Reservoir — effectively its remnants.
A colossal number of problems. But we are working to overcome them at all possible levels. And most importantly — there is now a social potential to do this.
Caring for one another, working in unity, protecting people and life. These are our principles, the principles of Ukraine that fights. They are currently functioning at 100%, these are our principles. And I am confident: no matter how difficult it was, we will overcome the consequences of this catastrophe and all Russian evil.
I thank everyone in the world who is already helping or asking Ukraine how to help. Thank you to everyone participating in the rescue operation, those who are helping people as much as they can. People, animals, everything living. And also to everyone urging international organizations, foreign leaders, other countries to see what happened and call things by their names. Russian terrorists must be held accountable for all that they have done.
And separately — for our soldiers, for all those who are in particularly difficult battles these days.
We see your heroism and we are grateful to you for every minute of your life — a life that is truly the life of Ukraine. Because as much as Ukraine is free, so strong are you, our soldiers. As much as Ukraine is protected, so effective are you, our soldiers.
Every one who fights now — this is Ukraine fighting. Thank you for that! Glory to all those who fight and work for our country!
Glory to Ukraine!"
