In March, the wards of Sergiy Sapronov earned the right to advance in class. In Group V6 of the second qualifying round for Euro-2023 (WU-17), Ukrainians secured their first step and returned to a higher division thanks to victories over Bulgaria (2:1) and Latvia (5:0) .

Almost entirely renewed, the girls' national team of Ukraine WU-17 (players born in 2007–2008), which will play in League A of the first qualifying round for Euro-2024 this fall, set off to gain experience at the UEFA Development Tournament in Romania.

In the opening match, blue and yellow overcame Azerbaijan (4:0), after which they lost to Greece on penalties 7:6. In their last game at the National Football Center in Buftea, 20 km from Romania's capital Bucharest, Ukrainians met the hosts.

In the first half, blue and yellow efforts by Mariia Ignatenko, Viktoriia Savkina, and Alina Savka scored three goals. In the second half, opponents managed to score two goals back but Sergiy Sapronov's wards still held on for victory — 3:2. With seven points, Ukraine WU-17 girls' team secured second place at the tournament.
