In March, Sergei Sapronov's wards earned the right to advance in class. In Group V6 of the second round of Euro-2023 (WU-17) qualification, Ukrainians secured their first step and returned to a higher division thanks to victories over Bulgaria (2:1) and Latvia (5:0) .

Almost entirely renewed, the girls' national team of Ukraine WU-17 (players born in 2007–2008), which will play in League A of the first round of Euro-2024 qualifiers this autumn, set off to gain experience at the UEFA Development Tournament in Romania.

In the opening match, blue-and-yellow overcame Azerbaijan (4:0), and now they faced Greece. The main time of the match passed without goals, but in a penalty shootout, the Greeks emerged victorious. Sergei Sapronov's wards will play their next match on April 28 against the tournament hosts.

According to the regulations, each team plays three matches. A win earns three points; in case of a draw, a penalty shootout takes place, with the winner receiving two points and the loser one point. Matches take place at the National Football Centre in Buftea, 20 km from the capital, Bucharest.
