General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: operational information regarding the Russian invasion (as of 06:00 08.01.2023)

Note to your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on January 8, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The three hundred and nineteenth day of Russia's large-scale invasion has begun.

To replenish losses and support its advance, the enemy is moving personnel, weapons, military equipment, and ammunition into areas where combat operations are taking place.

Despite the so-called «ceasefire» announced by Russian occupiers, during the past day, the enemy carried out nine missile strikes, three air raids, and 40 shelling attacks with multiple rocket launchers, including on civilian infrastructure. There are casualties among civilians.

The threat of aerial and missile strikes remains throughout Ukraine's territory. Do not ignore air raid sirens.

Over the past day, units of the Defense Forces repelled attacks by occupiers in 16 populated areas. Among them are Stelmakhivka, Makiyivka, and Bihorivka in Luhansk Oblast, and Rozdolivka, Siversk, Bakhmut, Zaitseve, Perevalskiy, Vodyane, and Pobeda in Donetsk Oblast.

Suffering heavy losses, the enemy is conducting offensive operations on the Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Lyman axes and attempting to improve its tactical position on the Kupyansk axis. On the Novopavlovsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson axes, occupiers are defending.

On the Volyn and Polissya axes, there have been no significant changes in the situation; the enemy maintains a military presence in border areas. No signs of forming its offensive groupings have been detected.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi axes, populated areas such as Staritsya and Dvorichna in Kharkiv Oblast were shelled. The enemy also used a strike drone near Oleksandriyka.

On the Kupyansk and Lyman axes, artillery strikes hit the areas of Ivanivka, Stelmakhivka, Myasozharyvka, Ploschanka, Makiyivka, Nevskiy, Chervonopopyvka, and Dybrova in Luhansk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut axis, enemy fire affected Beresteve, Bihorivka, Veselye, Krasna Gora, Bakhmut, Klyshchyovka, Bila Hora, Dilievka, Zaitseve, and New York in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Avdiyivka axis, Novelnye, Mariinka, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast were shelled.

On the Novopavlovsk axis, Velika Novosilka, Zolotaya Niva, and Vuhledar in Donetsk Oblast suffered from enemy fire.

On the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson axes, the enemy carried out tank, mortar, artillery, and rocket attacks on areas such as Antonivka, Charyvne, Dorozhnyanka, Inzhenernoye, Bilyhorod, Oleksiyevka, Maliy Shcherbak, Stepovoye, and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

The enemy continues to suffer losses. For example, on January 5, a train with refrigerated cars filled with dead Russians arrived from Rostov-on-Don to Kemerovo Oblast. The bodies are to be unloaded at local morgues.

In temporarily occupied territories in the populated areas of Horenstavka, Kayry, Zavodivka, and Marinskye in Kherson Oblast, occupiers have stopped broadcasting all Ukrainian TV channels; only Russian television is being broadcast.

Ukrainian Air Force aircraft carried out strikes on 21 enemy concentration areas during the past day, as well as three attacks on positions of its air defense missile systems.

At the same time, three reconnaissance drones of the occupiers of the «Orlan-10» type were shot down.

Our units of rocket forces and artillery hit a command post, five concentration areas of manpower and military equipment, and two ammunition depots of the enemy.

Believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Together we will win!

Glory to Ukraine!
