President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about Divine Liturgy at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and the lies coming from Moscow.

"I wish you good health, dear Ukrainians!

Once again, I congratulate everyone celebrating today on Christmas Day, which has already become historical for Ukraine, for the spiritual independence of our people.

It was a pleasure to see how many people, how many of our soldiers came to Divine Liturgy at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra — to that sacred place, one of the sources of Ukrainian cultural tradition.

It is very important that sincere prayers for Ukraine will be heard in the lavra today and will continue to be heard. And no one will make Ukrainian foreign there anymore.

Ukrainian independence must be strong in all its elements. It will be so forever. We ensure this together with you.

And it is very important to preserve and continue the mood felt today. The mood of joy at Ukraine's strengthening and the achievement of historical justice.

I wish all Ukrainians that such a mood will be more frequent with us.

Signed decrees on implementing Security Council decisions today — another meeting took place.

First, we approved the general plan for the work of the Security Council this year. This will be no less powerful than in previous years, and the main priority is to ensure our independence, strengthen our ability to defend ourselves — by all means necessary, with all available resources.

Secondly, there is an interim summary of work regarding many Russian citizens and individuals associated with Russia who justify the war, help conduct it or glorify the state-terrorist regime. Today is the first such sanctions list — more decisions on sanctions against such persons will follow.

All those whose voice resonates in unison with the rumble of Russian artillery will be isolated from civilized society.

And, by the way, today once again proved that any words coming from Moscow are lies. They said something about supposedly stopping fire. But reality is that Russian shells hit Bakhmut and other Ukrainian positions again.

Once again confirmed — only the expulsion of Russian occupiers from Ukrainian soil and eliminating all possibilities for Russia to pressure Ukraine and all of Europe will mean restoring peace, security, and tranquility.

This is what we work towards, this is the goal of our partners' assistance, this is the aim of the entire civilized world today.

And I thank everyone who helps us defend Ukraine's independence!

I thank each and every one who fights and works for our country!

Today we took another step closer to our victory.

Glory to Ukraine!"
