President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about Russia's plans for prolonged attacks with "shaheds" and our successes that currently have strategic significance.

"I wish you good health, dear Ukrainians!

Only two days into this year, the number of Iranian drones shot down over Ukraine has already exceeded 80. And in the near future, this number may increase. For these nights could be quite restless.

We have information that Russia plans a prolonged attack with "shaheds." Its goal might be to exhaust us. To exhaust our people, our air defense systems, and our energy infrastructure.

But we will do everything in our power to thwart this terrorist goal as well, just like all the others.

Today I would like to commend the Air Command "Center," "South," and "East" for their successful defense of the skies these days. And especially — the soldiers of the 96th Kyivskyi, 208th Khersonskyi, and 138th Dniprovskyi anti-aircraft missile brigades, the 301st Nikopol Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment of Air Forces, as well as the soldiers of the 39th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment of Ground Forces.

I also thank our pilots and mobile artillery group fighters.

Now is the time when everyone involved in defending the skies must be extra vigilant.

The Russian regime needs mobilization emotions. Something to show their country that everything is going "according to plan." Our task, however, is to give Ukraine victories every day, small but real triumphs over terrorists and terror. Every downed drone, every shot-down missile, every day with electricity for our people and minimal blackouts — these are such victories.

And every step of our troops forward on the front lines, every position held — these are such successes that have strategic significance now.

We must increase the cost to the state-terrorist for a new mobilization and war in general. I thank each of our soldiers who ensures this!

Thank you all standing under Bakhmut! Thank you all holding positions at Solodyarsk and other directions!

Thank you for Luhansk, for the south!

No matter how difficult it is now, we must endure. So that this winter will be easier at the end.

I spoke today with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. I am glad that my first international call in the new year was with the head of the EU Commission.

We understand equally well the challenges this winter and this year pose for Ukraine and all of Europe. We discussed financial support for our country — we expect the first tranche of macro-financing already in January, as agreed last year.

This is extremely important now that Russia is trying to gather new forces for aggression.

We also discussed preparations for a Ukraine-UE summit scheduled for early February. I believe we will be able to outline key new steps for this year at the summit for our joint resilience and victory.

Today, I held a special preparatory meeting with members of the Security Council and representatives from the Cabinet, Verkhovna Rada, and Office regarding global trends for Ukraine this year and beyond. I tasked them to work on Security Council resolutions projects so that our country's internal transformation continues and we ensure security and leadership for Ukraine under any external conditions.

I thank all who will be on duty tonight at combat posts!

Thank you all fighting for our dear Ukraine!

Thank you all helping us!

Glory to Ukraine!">
