To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on October 18, 2022 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The two hundred and thirty-seventh day of heroic resistance of the Ukrainian nation against the Russian large-scale invasion has begun.

The enemy is trying to hold temporarily occupied territories, concentrating efforts on restraining actions of the Defense Forces at certain directions, while not abandoning attempts to conduct offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions.

Over the past day, units of the Defense Forces repelled attacks by occupiers in the areas of Berestove village in Kharkiv region; Bakhmutskoye, Ivanograd, Klyshchyivka, Pervomaisk and Mariinka villages in Donetsk region.

The enemy is shelling our troops' positions along the entire line of contact, carrying out engineering equipment of defensive positions and sectors at certain directions, and conducting aerial reconnaissance. Violating international humanitarian law, laws and customs of war, it strikes critical infrastructure and civilian housing.

Over the past day, the enemy delivered 10 rocket and 58 air strikes, carried out up to 60 shelling with multiple launch rocket systems.

Areas of more than 35 populated places were hit by these attacks, including Kyiv and its region, Odesa and Mykolaiv regions; Bilohorivka, Terny, Krasnogorivka and Mariinka in Donetsk region; Novo-Kamyanka and Bihorodka in Kherson region. For this purpose, the enemy used cruise, air-launched and surface-to-air guided missiles. In addition, 43 unmanned aerial vehicles of Iranian manufacture Shahed-136 were employed, out of which 38 were shot down by Ukrainian soldiers.

On the Volynian and Polesian directions the situation has not changed significantly. There is a threat of missile and air strikes, as well as the use of Shahed-136 attack drones from the territory of Belarus.

On other directions, the enemy carried out shelling:

on the Northern direction — with artillery of various types in the areas of Senkivka village in Chernihiv region and Seredina-Buda and Dmitrivka villages in Sumy region;

on the Slobozhanskyi direction — with tanks, mortars, field and rocket artillery in the areas of Khatne, Starytsia and Strilechya villages;

on the Kupyansk direction — with mortars, field and rocket artillery in the areas of Berestove, Hrynykivka, Dvorichna, Kotlyarivka, Serbyanka and Stelemyhivka villages;

on the Lyman direction — with various caliber artillery in the areas of Bilohorivka, Hrekyvka, Zarychne, Nadia, Noviyehorivka and Terny villages. Here the enemy used attack drones as well.

On the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions the enemy delivered fire strikes with tanks, mortars, field and rocket artillery along the line of contact.

On the Novopavlivsk and Zaporizhzhia directions the enemy shelled more than 15 populated places. Among them — Bihorodka, Bogoyavlennka, Vuhledar, Maliyivka, Orikhiv and Shevchenko.

On the South-Bug direction occupants shelled military and civilian infrastructure. Areas of more than 20 populated places along the line of contact were hit by fire strikes. For conducting aerial reconnaissance, the enemy carried out over 30 sorties of UAVs.

Violating all norms of international humanitarian law, laws and customs of war, Russian occupiers are constructing fortifications at the expense of local population's property. Thus, in Blahodatne village in Kherson region, building materials and metal structures from private household plots of peaceful citizens are being confiscated for equipping engineering defenses.

The aviation of the Defense Forces over the past day delivered 22 strikes. Confirmed damage to 18 areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment, a support point, as well as three positions of enemy air defense missile systems. Anti-aircraft units shot down three cruise missiles.

Rocket forces and artillery hit command posts, areas of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment, two objects of PVO and artillery, one ammunition depot and other military targets of the enemy.
