In Tallinn the Euro-2023 tournament in Group A for the Ukrainian women's under-17 team started. The first opponent of the blue and yellow was England's team.

As a reminder, due to full-scale aggression from Russia and martial law in Ukraine, our team could not participate in the second round of the Euro-2022 qualifier and formally took the last, fourth place in the group. However, UEFA's Executive Committee made a decision to leave the Ukrainian women's national team in the elite division due to Russia's disqualification. Thus, they remained in Group A.

Unfortunately, the players of Serhiy Sapronov, who gathered for the first time in a year, conceded to England with a score of 0-11. The next match of our team in Group A, against Denmark, will take place on October 10.

In Group A, 28 teams will compete (including seven that moved up from Group B based on the results of the second round of the season-2021/2022, which concluded in spring). They were divided into seven groups. Teams within one group play at one venue in a mini-tournament format. Teams finishing fourth in their groups will continue the season in the second round of Group B.

The seeding for the second round will depend on the positions teams secure in their respective groups during the first round. Estonia will also participate in the competition, despite having a direct qualification to the final stage as the host nation.

Teams from Group B (including those that dropped down from Group A after the second round of season-2021/2022) compete for promotion to Group A across six groups. Winners of their groups and runners-up with the best record against teams finishing first and third in their respective groups will move up to a higher division.
