The head coach of Ukraine's youth team, Ruslan Rotan, commented on the decisive victory over Slovakia (3:0), which secured our team's qualification for Euro 2023 (U-21).

"In the second half, we slightly changed our tactics, while the first one didn't go as planned. However, before the match, we understood that transitioning from an artificial turf field, not of the latest generation, would be challenging."

Before this, we trained here for a week on such sticky fields, so after halftime, we physically and tactically outperformed our opponents. But I also want to thank Slovakia — they looked good too and deserved to qualify as well. However, the strongest wins, so I congratulate us, I congratulate Ukraine. We dedicate this victory to our soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Before the match, we told the boys about it, and they understood everything.

The weather affected the game. We always emphasize ball control and good field conditions. Unfortunately, today's field was not of the best quality; the ball was slippery. The field was very sticky, so from the first minutes, this hindered us in controlling the match flow. But during the course of the game, we adjusted. I want to highlight the character of the boys, their desire to win and qualify for Euro. Perhaps, this is our main trump card today," — Ruslan Rotan said in a post-match interview for Suspilne Sport.
