The general meeting was attended by the president of the UAF, UEFA Executive Committee member Andriy Pavelko, first vice-presidents of the UAF Anatoliy Demianenko, Oleh Protsasov, Oleksiy Mykhaylichenko, Vadim Kostyuchenko, executive director of the UPL Yevgen Diky, president of the PFL Oleksandr Kadchenko, as well as representatives of all clubs from the UPL and candidate clubs from the PFL.

The main topic on the agenda was the prospect of continuing the Ukrainian championship, discussing possible venues and dates for its conduct, as well as the format of the tournament for the upcoming season.

A constructive discussion took place, but all clubs unanimously agreed on the key issue: football must be in Ukraine!

The final decision regarding the format of the championship, the country where it will take place, and the game calendar will be made based on the results of the work of specialized working groups and consultations with the Ukrainian government and military administrations.

The same conclusion was reached in discussing the future prospects for youth team championships.

Also on the agenda, the issue of the impossibility of the «Dnipro» and «Mariupol» teams participating in the next championship due to destroyed infrastructure and a difficult military situation in their cities was raised. It was decided to secure these teams' places in the Ukrainian Premier League. All meeting participants unanimously supported this initiative.

Given the complex situation in the country due to Russia's full-scale aggression, a special temporary regulation will be developed and adopted for the 2022/2023 season, which will provide conditions for conducting matches under the circumstances that have arisen.

“We discussed the issue of restoring the Ukrainian championship. All club representatives had the opportunity to express their views on the situation, but I am glad that no one questioned the feasibility of holding competitions,” said UAF President and UEFA Executive Committee member Andriy Pavelko. “For all of us now, it is important to preserve football in Ukraine because it helps people cope with the stress of full-scale war and serves as an important psychological support for many children who have experienced the horrors of war. Therefore, soon a working group will process proposals and opinions from club representatives and detail variants for conducting the championship season 2022/2023. I thank all meeting participants for their constructive and open discussion. But most importantly, I am grateful to UPL and PFL clubs for their active patriotic stance, volunteer work, and support for children, families of internally displaced persons, medical personnel, and our soldiers-defenders.”
