Ukraine national team defender Illia Zabarnyi shared his expectations for the friendly match against «Borussia» (Mönchengladbach), which will take place today at the «Borussia Park» stadium (kickoff at 21:45 Kyiv time).

Yesterday, blue-and-yellow arrived in Mönchengladbach, where they will face the local «Borussia» team today. The day before, our national team held an open training session at the «Borussia Park» stadium, meeting with children who were forced to leave Ukraine due to the war.

Defender of Kyiv's «Dynamo», Illia Zabarnyi, shared his expectations for the first friendly match of this year's national team.

"This is not just a friendly game but a game for the national team, so it's a challenge for us. We are now preparing for a match against our main opponent — Scotland. Everyone understands that it will be a very difficult match. Ahead of us are control matches, we need to prepare well.

Our people who currently live in Germany and the Germans themselves support us greatly. This is extremely important for us. We want to support them with our play, give something, some hope to others.

We are greeted very warmly. When we held charity matches as part of «Dynamo», everyone was there with Ukrainian flags. It's really admirable.

We talked with the children who came. This is a positive moment that we can give children this emotion. We are only happy to support someone. For us, it's easy, but for them, it means a lot.

We invite everyone to come and support Ukraine!» — said Zabarnyi.

Reminder, the 1/2 final of the qualification for the 2022 World Cup between the national teams of Scotland and Ukraine will take place on June 1 at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
