Illia Zabarnyi: "We've started to understand what needs to be done during training and theory sessions"

Ukraine national team defender Illia Zabarnyi shared insights on the team's preparation for the upcoming 2024/2025 UEFA Nations League matches against Albania and Czechia.

"It's great to see everyone. During training and theory sessions, we've already started to understand what needs to be done. The fields are familiar, the training process is going well, and there's nothing to complain about.

When you put on the national team jersey, it doesn't matter if it's a friendly or an official match. We know who we're playing for and what the situation is like in our country. Everyone understands this, so there's no need for extra motivation.

All national teams are playing good football now. As we've seen at the Euros and the World Cup, it's tough against anyone. All teams know how to play nowadays. The most important thing is that football is evolving, and it's challenging to play against different opponents. But I believe we will prepare well and show our best.

As for the start of the club season, we've had tough games. Maybe Bournemouth lacked something in certain moments. We'd like to have more from the opening matches, but overall, it's a decent start. Preseason preparation went well, and most importantly, there were no injuries. I hope it stays that way," said Illia Zabarnyi.

As a reminder, in September, the Ukraine national team will play two matches in Group B1 of the 2024/2025 Nations League in Prague. On September 7th, they will face Albania in the first round at Epet Arena, and on the 10th, they will play an away match against Czechia at Eden Arena.
