President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, informing about the first meeting of the General Staff with new military commanders and preparations for the Munich Security Conference.
"I wish good health to all Ukrainians,
Today I held my first meeting of the General Staff in the presence of new military commanders. Head of the General Staff Oleksandr Syrskyi, Chief of the General Staff Anatoliy Zagorodnyuk — together with commanders for directions. Reports were given on the situation at the front. The Kupyansk direction, Lyman direction, Bakhmut direction. Of course, Avdiivka. Marinka direction, Zaporizhzhia direction. A separate report was made about our actions in the south, particularly in Kherson Oblast.
There was a detailed report on the protection of critical infrastructure — energy, heating facilities, water supply. Everything that is an inevitable target for Russian rockets and drones. To add more protection, we are adding more forces, more capabilities to our mobile fire groups. We will also increase the number of such groups. They are one of the main pillars of our defense against Russian terror, and I am grateful to everyone who serves in mobile fire groups, trains them and helps.
As always, today at the General Staff there was a report on ensuring all our units: ammunition, drones, REB. Everyone in Ukraine who can produce effective radio-electronic warfare systems deserves full state support at all levels: from the central government to every region where such potential exists. I am grateful to everyone involved, particularly local authorities and each Ukrainian business, all Ukrainian developers who are developing this production — radio-electronic warfare systems.
Today I spoke with President Ramaphosa of South Africa. First and foremost about our global efforts to return Ukraine a real, just peace. The kind of peace that every nation deserves and for which Ukraine proposed the Peace Formula. Ten points covering all aspects of Russian aggression against our country. I thanked President Ramaphosa for the participation of representatives from South Africa in meetings regarding the Peace Formula. I told him about our agreement and joint work with Switzerland on organizing a Global Peace Summit. And we agreed to continue supporting sufficient levels of interaction to bring about an honest peace and make global efforts productive. Africa must be represented in all global processes.
And one more thing.
Today I held a lengthy meeting on preparing our international work for February. Particularly, we are getting ready for the Munich Security Conference — an important not only European but also global platform. Ukraine will present its vision this year. And many things of decisive importance this year — those perspectives that lie within all of us, in all free nations, and which must not be lost. Cooperation matters. And I am grateful to everyone around the world who realizes this, to everyone who helps, every leader, every country that wants an honest peace as much as Ukrainians do.
Glory to all who have preserved and are preserving Ukraine! Glory to all who fight for our state and people!
Glory to Ukraine!"
