To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6:00 on January 22, 2024 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred ninety-eighth day of large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has begun.

The Russian Federation continues to ignore laws and customs of warfare, uses tactics of terror, carries out missile and air strikes, conducts artillery shelling with multiple rocket launchers not only at military but also at numerous civilian objects in our country.

During the past day, 68 combat engagements took place. In total, the enemy carried out four missile and 102 air strikes, conducted 80 shelling operations with multiple rocket launchers on positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries among civilians. Residential private and multi-apartment buildings as well as other civilian infrastructure were damaged.

Yesterday, Russian occupiers carried out another air strike using 10 combat drones of the Shahed-136/131 type. Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense forces destroyed eight combat drones.

Air strikes hit Grafskoe, Vovchansk, Mykolaivka, Vilkhuvatka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabayivka, Pishchanе of Kharkiv Oblast; Makіїvka, Seredynske Forest of Luhansk Oblast; Yamopolіvka, Hryhorіvka, Minkіvka, Bogdanіvka, Chasіv Yar, Kostiantynіvka, Toretsk, Pivnіchne, New York, Lastochkinе, Avdiіvka, Staromajorske, Rivnopіl, Novomykhailіvka, Kostiantynіvka of Donetsk Oblast; Chervoniy Mayak, Zmiіvka, Novobereislav, Veselе of Kherson Oblast.

More than 100 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts were under artillery fire.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «North» on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi directions the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening sectors, increases mine-explosive barriers along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Khortytsia» on the Kupyansk direction, our defenders repelled seven enemy attacks near Sinkyvka, Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Lyman direction Ukrainian soldiers repelled five attacks by occupiers around Ternіv and Yamopolіvka of Donetsk Oblast as well as six more attacks near Bіlogorіvka, Luhansk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut direction defensive forces repelled seven enemy attacks east of Hryhorіvka, Bogdanіvka, Ivanivske and Klyshchyovka of Donetsk Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Tavria» on the Avdiyivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiіvka. Our soldiers firmly hold their defense line, inflicting heavy losses on aggressors. Thus, defensive forces repelled five attacks by occupiers in the areas of Novobakhmutіvka, Stepanovе, Avdiіvka and another 12 attacks south of Severnе, Pervomayskе and Nevelskе of Donetsk Oblast over the past day.

On the Mariupol direction defensive forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Georgіevka and Novomykhailіvka of Donetsk Oblast, where five attacks were repelled.

On the Shakhtarsk direction the enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction our defenders repelled seven attacks by the enemy west of Verbovе and Robotinе of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Odessa» on the Kherson direction, defensive forces continue to conduct actions aimed at expanding their foothold. Despite heavy losses, the enemy does not give up attempts to drive our units from occupied positions. Over the past day, the enemy carried out six unsuccessful assaults on Ukrainian military positions.

At the same time, our soldiers continue active operations inflicting casualties in manpower and equipment on occupying forces along the entire front line.

During the day, aviation of defensive forces inflicted strikes on nine areas of enemy personnel concentration, weapons and military equipment.

Subunits of rocket troops inflicted damage on one area of enemy personnel concentration, one command post, three artillery systems and one air defense system of the enemy.
