President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, detailing a thorough analysis of our air forces' work and emphasizing the need for new global steps against those who continue to aid Russia.
"I wish good health, dear Ukrainians!
First – Priority.
Today there was a special meeting – with direct, in-person participation of all key commanders and operational leaders.
Together with the Chief Commander, General Staff, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Strategic Industries and Trade, and Ministry of Digital Transformation we thoroughly analyzed ammunition and drone supplies. Distribution among brigades and units. Daily needs. Actual expenditures. The main thing – logistics must become faster. We also discussed opening new lines of weapons and ammunition production in Ukraine – on our enterprises and together with partners.
Of course, we reviewed the supply that we expect this year. Despite all existing issues worldwide, our careful, clear approach to every need and opportunity ensures that our defense forces are supplied with everything necessary. We see how to implement Ukraine's priorities for this year: what is needed, who is needed, and which signals can be activated.
We separately and in detail analyzed the work of our air forces, all our defenders of the sky. The results of downing Russian missiles and drones. What succeeded. What should succeed. We continue to work with all partners to strengthen our air defense systems. And at the same time – to increase pressure on Russia. Sanctions from around the world certainly work well. There are clear signs that Russian 'defense' is being slowed down. But for sanctions results to be 100% effective, so too must be the schemes of sanctions evasion blocked by 100%. And new global steps are needed against those who continue to help Russia. Everyone in the world knows this short list of terrorism accomplices. We will talk about this further with partners.
Today I already had three phone calls with leaders: President of Romania, President of Poland, Prime Minister of Belgium.
I thanked Romania for the level of cooperation that has already been achieved. We have excellent results both in the Danube region and in Black Sea cooperation, and generally in our interaction. We appreciate Romania's support for our movement towards the EU. We definitely have potential to increase cross-border interaction, especially in the triangle Ukraine-Romania-Moldova. Today we discussed with President Iohannis some promising questions regarding defense – how we can strengthen positions together. Specifically, we talked about preparing our F-16 pilots.
A good conversation was also held with the President of Poland. I am grateful to Poland for its constant help to Ukraine in matters of our EU accession. No matter what happens, strategically we work together in Europe. Today we discussed, among other things, our cooperation on working with NATO – Ukraine must become a member of the Alliance. I informed President Duda about the situation at the front and also about ongoing Russian strikes and our defense needs, including support needs. Specifically, I appreciate President Duda's words about unity that is so necessary for us.
An important conversation was held with the head of government of Belgium. Now Belgium has started its presidency in the EU Council, and I am grateful that supporting Ukraine and international law are among the priorities of the Belgian presidency. We together with Belgium have achieved some truly breakthrough things, especially regarding the use of Russian assets to support Ukraine. And this is one of those examples where Belgian leadership has global significance. I am also grateful for support on sanctions against Russia as well as clear support for our Euro-integration. This year we can make significant progress both in talks about accession with Ukraine and in a more decisive world attitude towards Russian assets. The aggressor must pay for what it has done. And this is fair.
Of course, I spoke with all leaders about our work on the Peace Formula – soon meeting of representatives in Davos. We are working to ensure that it is sufficiently representative and meaningful as well. This is happening successfully, and I thank everyone who helps!
Glory to all who work for freedom, to all who fight for freedom! Who do everything so that freedom becomes stronger and terror – only terror – loses!
Every week – fewer opportunities for Russia. Every week – more opportunities for Ukraine.
Glory to Ukraine!"
