Note to your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6:00 on January 8, 2024 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred eighty-fourth day of large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has begun.

The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terrorism tactics, carries out missile and air strikes, and shells both military and numerous civilian objects in our country with multiple rocket launchers.

During the past day, 35 combat encounters took place. In total, the enemy inflicted 11 missile and 69 air strikes, carried out 53 shelling attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas with multiple rocket launchers. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries among civilians. Residential private and multi-story buildings, as well as other civilian infrastructure, were damaged.

During the night, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine again, using eight Shahed-136/131 strike drones. All enemy drones were destroyed.

Air strikes hit Sinkyvka, Petro-Pavlivka, Berestove in Kharkiv Oblast; Seriyevskoye forest area in Luhansk Oblast; Kolyadyzhy, Tor'skoe, Dibrova, Druzhba, Avdiyivka, Novomykhailivka, Georgiyivka, Krasnogorovka, Vodyane in Donetsk Oblast; Krynytsi, Respublyanets, Zmiyivka, Chervoniy Mayak in Kherson Oblast.

Artillery fire affected nearly 100 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv oblasts.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "North" on Volyn and Polesie fronts, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi fronts the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening directions, and increases mine-explosive barriers along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Khortytsia" on Kupyansk Front, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks near populated areas Sinkyvka and Ivanivka in Kharkiv Oblast.

On Lyman Front our defenders repelled four attacks by occupiers east of Terny, Donetsk Oblast.

On Bakhmut Front Ukrainian warriors repelled three enemy attacks near Klyshchyvka and Andriivka in Donetsk Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Tavria" on Avdiyivka Front, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiyivka. Our warriors firmly hold their defense, inflicting significant losses on aggressors. Thus, defensive forces repelled six attacks by the enemy near Novobakhmutivka and Avdiyivka as well as 15 more attacks in the vicinity of Pervomayskoye and Nevelske in Donetsk Oblast during the past day.

On Mariupol Front, defensive forces continue to hold back the enemy in areas around Mariupol and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk Oblast, where three attacks were repelled.

On Shakhtarsk Front occupiers did not conduct offensive (assault) operations.

On Zaporizhzhia Front, defensive forces repelled an enemy attack west of Verbovyne, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Odessa" on Kherson Front, Ukrainian warriors continue to expand their foothold. Despite significant losses, the enemy does not give up attempts to drive our units from occupied positions. During the past day, the enemy carried out three unsuccessful assault operations against defensive forces.

At the same time, our defenders continue active actions inflicting casualties and equipment losses on occupation troops along the entire front line.

During the past day, aviation of defensive forces inflicted strikes on four areas of enemy personnel concentration. Also, with anti-aircraft means of Ukraine, a guided air-launched missile Kh-59 was destroyed.

Subunits of rocket troops struck at an enemy command post, two ammunition depots and two artillery systems.
