Note to your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6:00 on January 7, 2024 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred eighty-third day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

The enemy continues to ignore laws and customs of war, uses tactics of terror, carries out missile and air strikes, shelling with multiple rocket launchers not only military but also numerous civilian objects in our country.

During the past day, 45 combat encounters took place. In total, the enemy inflicted nine missile and 84 air strikes, carried out 50 shelling attacks with multiple rocket launchers on positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among civilians. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.

Yesterday, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine again, using 22 Shahed-136/131 type drones. The air defense system of Ukraine destroyed 19 attack drones.

Air strikes hit Oleksandrivka, Vovchansk, Pikoltne, Chugunivka, Synykhivka, Petro-Pavlivka, Ivanivka, Tabayivka in Kharkiv Oblast; Seredynske forest district in Luhansk Oblast; Terny, Yamopolivka, Spirene, New York, Oleksandropil, Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, Staromajorske in Donetsk Oblast; Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Pyatykatky in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Zmiyivka in Kherson Oblast.

More than 100 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts were under artillery fire.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "North" on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi directions the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from moving into threatening directions, increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Khortytsia" on the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks near populated areas of Synykhivka, Petro-Pavlivka, Ivanivka in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Lyman direction occupiers did not conduct offensive (assault) operations.

On the Bakhmut direction our soldiers repelled two enemy attacks near Orilovo-Vasylivka and Klyschyivka in Donetsk Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Tavria" on the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers firmly hold their defense line, inflicting heavy losses on aggressors. Thus, defensive forces repelled eight attacks by the enemy in the areas of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka and another 16 attacks near Perevomayske and Nevelskoye in Donetsk Oblast during the past day.

On the Mariupol direction our defenders continue to hold back the enemy near Mariupol and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast, where nine attacks were repelled.

On the Shakhtarsk direction occupiers did not conduct offensive (assault) operations.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction, defensive forces repelled five enemy attacks west of Verbove, Robotyne and south of Novodanylivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Odessa" on the Kherson direction, Ukrainian soldiers continue to take measures to expand their foothold. Despite heavy losses, the enemy does not give up attempts to drive our units from occupied positions. During the past day, the enemy carried out 18 unsuccessful assault operations against defensive forces.

At the same time, our defenders continue active actions inflicting casualties on occupation troops in manpower and equipment, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.

During the past day, aviation of defensive forces carried out strikes against 19 areas of concentration of personnel and one air defense complex of the enemy.

Subunits of rocket troops struck four areas of concentration of personnel, two command points, an ammunition depot, three artillery systems, a radar station PPO and four anti-aircraft defense systems of the enemy.
