To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6:00 on December 31, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred and seventieth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, employs a tactic of terror, carries out missile and air strikes, and shells both military and numerous civilian objects in our country with multiple rocket launchers.

During the past day, there were 54 combat engagements. In total, the enemy inflicted nine missile and 55 air strikes, carried out 79 shelling attacks with multiple rocket launchers on positions of our troops and populated areas. Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine yesterday using guided missiles X-59 at the cities of Dnipro and Odesa, a "Iskander" missile at Zaporizhzhia, and air defense guided missiles S-300 at civilian objects in central Kharkiv city. Anti-aircraft defenses destroyed one guided missile X-59. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population. Private and multi-apartment residential buildings, hotels, hospitals, and other civil and industrial infrastructure were damaged.

During the night, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine using Shahed-136/131 type UAVs. Our defenders destroyed 21 attack drones.

Air strikes hit Arhipivka in Chernihiv Oblast; Tovstodubove in Sumy Oblast; Synkivka, Pyskanе in Kharkiv Oblast; Novoselivske, Steľmakhіvka, Nadіia, Bіlohoriвka in Luhansk Oblast; Avdiivka, Novomikhailіvka, Staromajorsке in Donetsk Oblast; Tykhynka and Kherson in Kherson Oblast.

Artillery fire hit nearly 150 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv oblasts.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "North" on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi directions the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening sectors, increases mine-explosive barriers along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Khortytsia" on the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight attacks near the populated area of Synkivka, Kharkiv Oblast, where the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to break through our defenses.

On the Lyman direction defensive forces repelled two attacks by the enemy near Makіїvka in Luhansk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut direction our soldiers repelled nine attacks by occupiers near Bogdanivka, Klyshchyivka and Andriyivka in Donetsk Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Tavria" on the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy who does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers firmly hold their defense, inflicting significant losses on aggressors. Thus, defensive forces repelled five attacks by the enemy near Stepove, Avdiivka and another 13 attacks near Pervomayske and Nevelskе in Donetsk Oblast over the past day.

On the Mariupol direction defensive forces continue to hold back the enemy in areas of Krasnogorіvka, Mariupol and Novomikhailіvka in Donetsk Oblast, where our defenders repelled eight attacks.

On the Shakhtarsk direction Ukrainian soldiers repelled two attacks by the enemy near Pryyutne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction defensive forces repelled four attacks by occupiers west of Verbovе and east of Kopanі in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Odesa" on the Kherson direction, Ukrainian soldiers continue to take measures for expanding their foothold. Despite significant losses, the enemy does not give up attempts to drive our units from occupied positions. Thus, during the past day, the enemy carried out 13 unsuccessful assault actions on defensive forces' positions.

At the same time, Ukrainian defense forces continue active operations inflicting casualties in manpower and equipment on occupying troops along the entire front line.

During the past day, our aviation inflicted strikes on 11 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment and three air defense missile complexes of the enemy.

Rocket forces units struck three air defense missile complexes, an area of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, seven artillery systems, and three radio-electronic warfare stations of the enemy.
