To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on August 23, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The four hundred and sixtieth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against our state has begun.

Forces of the Ukrainian Defense are continuing offensive operations on the Bakhmut and Melitopol directions.

In the direction of Novodanylivka and Novoprokopyvka, they had success, consolidated at the achieved lines, inflicted artillery fire on identified targets of the enemy, carried out counter-battery measures.

On the Bakhmut direction, forces of defense continue to conduct offensive actions south of the city of Bakhmut and consolidate at the achieved lines.

During the night of August 23, 2023, Russian occupiers carried out a terrorist attack with unmanned aerial vehicles on Ukrainian territory. Launches of Shahed-136/131 strike drones were conducted from a southeast direction. A total of up to twenty strike drones were launched from the Primorsko-Akhtarskaya area in Russia and Chaudi in Crimea.

With the forces and means of Air Forces, in coordination with other components of Ukrainian Defense Forces, eleven enemy unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed: nine in Odesa Oblast and two within Zaporizhzhia.

During the past day, the enemy delivered four missile strikes and 58 air raids, carried out 60 shelling with multiple rocket launchers on positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there were casualties among civilians. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.

The possibility of missile and air strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

During the past day, over 30 combat engagements took place.

On the Volyn and Polesie directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy delivered an air raid in the area of Popivka, Chernihiv Oblast. Over twenty populated areas were shelled with mortar and artillery fire, including Blizhnya, Karpovychi, Orlykivka, Chernihiv Oblast; Rozhkovychi, Seredyna-Buda, Myropil'ske, Ryasne, Sumy Oblast and Plytenivka, Vovchansk, Vovchansky Hutora, Chugunivka, Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupyansk direction, populated areas of Beresteve, Kupyansk-Vuzlovykh, Kharkiv Oblast and Tverdohlivove, Luhansk Oblast were shelled with artillery and mortar fire by the enemy.

On the Lyman direction, the enemy delivered air strikes in the areas of Serednyansky Forest District, Luhansk Oblast and Veselo, Donetsk Oblast. Artillery fire from the enemy was endured by about fifteen populated areas, including Bihorivka, Luhansk Oblast and Zvanivka, Seredynska, Severne, Veselo, Spirene, Fedorivka, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut direction, an air strike was delivered by the enemy in the area of Ivanivskiy, Donetsk Oblast. Over twenty populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Minkivka, Bogdanivka, Ivanivske, Dilievka, New York, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Avdiyivka direction, our defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the area of Avdiyivka. Artillery fire was endured by populated areas of Novokalynove, Stepole, Avdiyivka, Severne, Tonentse, Uman'ske, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Mariupol direction, forces of defense continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the area of Mariupol. The enemy delivered an air strike in the area of Krasnogorivka, Donetsk Oblast. Artillery fire was endured by populated areas of Mariupol, Pobeda, Yelizavetovka, Novomykhailivka, Katerynovka, Konstantynivka, Antonivka, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy delivered air strikes in the areas of Vodyany and Urozhaynoye, Donetsk Oblast. Over fifteen populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Vodyany, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolotyniv, Vremyvka, Makaryvka, Urozhayne, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy delivered air strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmakha, Yegorivka, Novodanylivka and Robotino, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Over fifteen populated areas suffered from artillery shelling by the enemy, including Poltavka, Hulyaypole, Hulyaypol'ske, Charivne, Bihorya, Chervone, Zatishshe, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

On the Kherson direction, an air strike was delivered by the enemy in the area of Romashkovo, Kherson Oblast. Populated areas of Novovorontsovka, Kherson, Bilyozerkva, Velents'ane, Komishany, Kherson Oblast suffered from artillery shelling.

In the city of Tokmak in temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Russian occupation so-called «authority» is trying to identify housing where no one lives to seize it. Gaz workers in Tokmak were ordered by occupiers under the guise of inspection and preparation for heating season to visit apartments and compile lists of houses and apartments without owners. But preparations for the heating season are not being carried out.

A humanitarian convoy from Russia is expected to arrive at temporarily occupied Skadovsk in Kherson Oblast for unprovided citizens. However, it is likely that under the guise of a humanitarian cargo, occupiers will deliver missile and artillery ammunition. Among Russian occupiers and collaborators in Skadovsk, preparations for «welcoming» controlled territories of Kherson Oblast are actively discussed.

In temporarily occupied Knyazh-Grigoriyevka, Kherson Oblast, Russian FSB operatives are conducting raids to search and identify pro-Ukrainian citizens and Ukrainian resistance forces. FSB agents set up checkpoints, check mobile phones of civilians for the presence of Ukrainian satellite operator SIM cards. Also during inspections that have been going on for five days in Knyazh-Grigoriyevka, occupiers simply stole about twenty cars from local residents. Houses from which Ukrainian citizens left to controlled territory of Ukraine are looted and seized by Russia. FSB agents are actively assisted by local collaborators.

During combat operations in the Klitschiivka area, Russian occupiers suffered significant losses. Due to inability to organize quality medical aid, the wounded were brought round-the-clock to a former railway hospital in Luhansk city.

The aviation of Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out 11 strikes against areas with enemy personnel concentration and two — on anti-aircraft missile systems during the past day.

Subunits of rocket troops and artillery inflicted damage to three areas with enemy personnel concentration, weapons and military equipment, two ammunition depots, one command post, one artillery system at a firing position and one heavy multiple launch rocket system TOS-1A during the past day.

Overall, Ukrainian soldiers liquidated 480 Russian occupiers in the past day, destroyed eleven tanks, twelve armored combat vehicles, twenty-three artillery systems, one MLRS, twelve tactical unmanned aerial vehicles, twenty-three cars and three units of special equipment.
