For the first time, our team met with the hosts here on April 30, 1997, during the qualification cycle for CH-1998. However, the game ended in a victory for Germany — 2:0 (goals were scored by Oliver Bierhoff and Mario Basler).

Interestingly, current coach of the blue-and-yellow team, Serhiy Rebrov, played the full match that day.

And, of course, it's worth remembering that former footballers of Ukraine's national team, who are now club coaches, Yuri Maximov and Viktor Syrnyk, also played for the local "Werder" on this stadium.
