Ukraine national team captain Andriy Yarmolenko participated in a press conference the day before a friendly match against Germany alongside head coach Serhiy Rebrov.

— There is war in Ukraine, terrible things happen every day. Can a football match give Ukrainians some hope and positivity?

— I want to thank the German government and people for their help to Ukraine. It's difficult for us players, but we must be strong because we are Ukrainians. We play football for our fans to give them a bit of positivity.

— The Ukrainian national team has never beaten Germany. What can our team do well tomorrow? What can we offer the opponent?

— I think we will offer them discipline and self-sacrifice. These factors play a big role in football. Of course, statistics are not on our side, but everything happens for the first time. We'll go out onto the field with a score of 0-0 and see who is stronger. We don't fear anyone, we respect everyone, but also know our strengths. The most important thing — to execute what we agreed upon in theory, what the head coach will ask for. Then I am sure there will be a positive result, we will show quality play.

— Andriy, how about your future? Are you considering returning to Dynamo?

— I don't know, we'll see. Right now, I still have a contract with Al-Ain, I must respect that. At the moment, I am focused on the national team. After these matches, you will all find out.

We remind you that Ukraine's match against Germany will take place on June 12 in Bremen at the Weser Stadium (kick-off is at 7 PM Kyiv time). This will be a charity friendly match and it will be the 1000th game in German national team history.
