To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on April 8, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The four hundred and ninety day of large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against our state has begun.

Over the past day, the enemy carried out two missile strikes and 35 air raids, conducted over 40 artillery attacks with multiple rocket launchers.

The likelihood of further missile and air strikes remains high across the entire territory of Ukraine.

The enemy continues to concentrate its main efforts on conducting offensive operations along the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariupol axes. Over the past day, thanks to the bravery of every soldier, more than 60 attacks by the enemy were repelled on the mentioned axes.

On the Volyn, Polesie, Sever, and Slobozhanskyi fronts, the operational situation — no significant changes. Signs of forming offensive groupings by the enemy have not been detected. The enemy continues to maintain a military presence in border areas with Ukraine in Kursk and Belgorod regions. In border areas of the Kursk region, the enemy is continuing to equip the area with engineering equipment. Over the past day, the enemy carried out shelling of populated places such as Leonivka, Gremyach in Chernihiv Oblast; Novovasylivka, Seredina-Buda, Zaruzychne in Sumy Oblast, and Huriyiv Kozatsk, Lukiancy, Verkhnya Pysaryvka, Grafsko, Zybino, Karaiychne, Potikhonove, Ambarne, Bologivka, Krasnoe Pereche, and Novomlynskyi in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupyansk front, enemy shelling affected populated places such as Topoli, Figolivka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Krokhmalne, Husinka, Kindrashivka in Kharkiv Oblast and Novoselivske — Luhansk.

On the Lyman front, over the past day, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations south of Kremenchuk, as well as in the areas of Serbryanskyi forest and Verkhnyokamyanske. Artillery shelling affected Novoselivske, Makieyivka, Nevsko, Kuzmine, Dibrova, Bihorivka Luhansk Oblast and Torske, Zarychne, Spirene, Berestevo in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut front, the enemy continues to conduct offensive operations, attempting to fully control the city of Bakhmut. Intense battles are ongoing. Over the past day, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations east of Bogdanivka and Ivanivske. Units of the Defense Forces repelled nearly 20 attacks by the enemy on the specified front line. More than 25 populated places in the combat zone were affected by enemy shelling, among them — Vasylkivka, Minkivka, Bakhmut, Bogdanivka, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Novomarkove, Stupochky, Shumi, Toretsk and New York in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Avdiivka and Mariupol fronts, over the past day, the enemy conducted offensive operations in the areas of Novokalynovo, Severnyi, Pervomaiskyi, Mariinka, and Victory in Donetsk Oblast. Success was not achieved. The most intense battles are taking place around Mariinka where more than 15 enemy attacks were repelled. At the same time, enemy shelling affected Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Severne, Vodyane, Pervomaiske, Karlivka, Georgiyivka, Mariinka, Victory and Paraskevivka in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Shakhtarsk front, over the day the enemy did not conduct offensive operations. Shelled populated places such as Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Prechystyvka, Kermenchyk, Novomayorske, Zolota Niva, Shakhterske and Velika Novosilka in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson fronts, the enemy continues to strengthen defensive positions and fortifications. Conducted shelling of more than 40 populated places. Among them — Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Orihiv, Novopavlivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Kachkarivka, Zamievka, Inzhenerne and Zelenyvka Kherson Oblast, as well as Kherson.

On temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, Russian occupiers have intensified preparations for the evacuation of local residents to temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. In Melitopol and Skadovsk, the enemy organized surveys of the local population regarding possible evacuation. During the survey, possession of a Russian passport, registration status, and level of education are verified. It is noted that buses with those wishing to evacuate periodically leave. Occupiers are spreading information that forced evacuation of civilian population will begin at the end of April.

The Air Force of the Defense Forces carried out nine strikes on areas where enemy personnel and military equipment are concentrated over the day. Additionally, our defenders near Mariinka destroyed a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft. Also, the enemy lost seven UAVs, three — type "Orlan", three — "Lancet" and one — "Merlin".

Units of rocket troops and artillery damaged one command post, two areas with concentrated manpower, and destroyed an enemy ammunition depot.
