President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about another massive missile strike on our cities and about the world's ability to stop those who sow death.
"I will start this address without a greeting. And I want these people to hear me — not just political leaders — those who are still hesitating whether to provide Ukraine with the weapons that would help us defeat the state-terrorist regime this year."
Russia launched another massive missile strike on Ukrainian cities. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Ladizhyn, Burshtyn, Lviv region, and Khmelnytskyi were among the targets. Everywhere — civilian objects!
In the city of Dnipro, as a result of this Russian strike, a residential building was destroyed. A typical panel nine-story apartment block, which is quite common in various cities across Eastern and Central Europe. All floors of this building — from the second to the ninth — collapsed due to an explosion caused by a Russian missile.
It has been possible to rescue dozens of people — injured and traumatized; they are receiving assistance. Among them are children, with the youngest girl being three years old. And this is as it stands now.
The search for victims under the rubble continues throughout the night. The number of people under the debris is still unknown. Sadly, the list of fatalities grows with each hour. My condolences to relatives and loved ones...
Can we stop Russian terror? Yes.
Can this be done in any way other than on the battlefield in Ukraine? Unfortunately, no. This can and must be done on our land, in our sky, and in our sea.
What is needed for this? The weapons that are currently stored at our partners' facilities and which our soldiers so eagerly await.
Any conditions or time that simply passes cannot stop the terrorists who systematically kill our people with missiles purchased from Iran, drones, artillery, tanks, and mortar guns. The entire world knows what it takes to stop those who sow death.
This building in Dnipro was located on a street called Victory Embankment. When this street received such a name, they had the victory over Nazis in World War II in mind. The Russians have adopted everything from that enemy of free world. This is obvious. And we must do everything to stop Russian fascism just as the free world once stopped Nazism.
And I thank everyone who helps us with this!
I spoke today with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom about some very important things for our defense. Details will follow. But this is significant. This is truly what is needed. And I believe that similar decisions will eventually be made by other partners — those who understand why no chance should be given to such evil. Because such evil knows no borders.
Eternal memory to all whose lives were taken by Russian fascism!
Glory to all who defend people!
All services are currently working in places where Russian missiles hit. We fight for every person!
Over 30 missiles launched against Ukraine were shot down over the day. This saves hundreds of lives. I thank our air forces, our anti-aircraft troops and everyone who helps.
Unfortunately, there are hits on energy infrastructure objects as well. In connection with this, the most difficult situation is in Kharkiv region and Kyiv oblast. Repair teams are doing everything possible to restore power generation and supply as quickly as possible, and work will continue around the clock.
And our enemy will receive a response on the battlefield. Our soldiers guarantee this.
Everyone involved in these missile strikes against Ukraine will be found and held accountable.
Glory to Ukraine!
