To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on October 22, 2022 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The two hundred and fortieth first day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian nation against the Russian large-scale invasion has begun.

The enemy is trying to hold onto temporarily occupied territories, concentrating efforts on restraining the actions of Defense Forces on certain fronts, while at the same time not abandoning attempts to conduct offensive operations on the Bakhmut and Avdiivka fronts.

Over the past day, units of the Defense Forces repelled attacks by occupiers in the areas of the villages Terneva in Kharkiv region; Bilohorivka and Zolotaryvka in Luhansk region, as well as Liman, Ivanivske, Siversk, Novokalynove, Ozarivka, Orikhovo and Perevalsk in Donetsk region.

The enemy is shelling the positions of our troops along the line of contact and conducting aerial reconnaissance. Continues to inflict strikes on critical infrastructure and civilian housing, violating international humanitarian law, laws, and customs of war.

Over the day, the enemy carried out five missile and 19 air strikes, conducted more than 94 artillery attacks with multiple rocket launchers.

Enemy strikes hit areas near about 20 populated places. This includes Kharkiv, Kupiansk; Bakhmut, Orikhovo, Mariinka, Zelenopillya in Donetsk region; Zaporizhzhia, as well as Novovoskresenske in Kherson region.

For their crimes, the enemy used aviation and air defense guided missiles, as well as Shahed-136 strike drones.

On the Volynian and Polesian fronts, there are no significant changes in the situation. The deployment of a joint regional military grouping of the Russian Federation and Belarus is ongoing. Over the day, enemy aviation carried out training flights over the airspace of the Republic of Belarus.

According to available information, isolated cases of conflicts between Russian and Belarusian troops are noted due to national affiliation and the audacious attitude of Russians towards Belarusians.

On other fronts, the enemy carried out shelling:

on the Northern front — with mortars and artillery in the areas of the villages Ukrainian, Mykolaivka, Krasnyi Hutyr and Hay in Chernihiv region, as well as Pokrovka in Sumy region;

on the Slobozhansky front — with tanks, mortars, artillery in the areas of the villages Vovchansk, Hatishe, Glybokoye, Mylove, Ogireve, Neskuchne, Staritsa, Terneva and Strilecha;

on the Kupiansky front — with mortars and artillery in the areas of the villages Kolodyazhne, Dvorichna, Bogdanivka, Beresteve and Kyslivka;

on the Lyman front — with tanks, mortars, artillery in the areas of the villages Karmazinivka, Zariche, Shyikivka and Terne;

on the Bakhmut front — with tanks, mortars, artillery in the areas of the villages Andriyivka, Siversk, Bakhmutsko, Bakhmut, Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamyanske, Spirene, Ivanivske, Rozdolivka, Zelenopillya, Klyshchevka and Opitne;

on the Avdiyivka front — with tanks and artillery in the areas of Avdiivka, Veseloye, Krasyhorivka, Mariinka, Novomykhailivka, Vodyane and Perevalsk.

On the Novopavlivsky and Zaporizhzhia fronts, the enemy did not conduct active offensive operations. Conducted shelling in the areas of Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Verymivka, Bila Nova Sylva, Bilohirya, Zhovtennoe and Mala Tokmachka.

On the South Bug front, areas near more than 20 populated places along the line of contact suffered from artillery fire. Among them are Novovoskresenske, Myrne, Davydiv Brud and Novohredive.

According to available information, a significant part of the population has left the city of Kherson. Russian occupiers remaining in the city have switched to civilian clothing and are occupying abandoned housing. The enemy is preparing Kherson for street battles.

As of October 21, Russian occupiers are conducting activities to clear Kakhovka Hospital premises from patients and medical personnel.

In the city of Enerhodar, Russian military forces are looting abandoned apartments and hotels where they lived.

Along with weapons searches, Russian military leadership does not abandon attempts to recruit foreign mercenaries for service in Ukraine. According to available information, recruitment of fighters is continuing in one of the countries of the Near East.

The level of dissatisfaction with military leadership actions from the civilian population of the Russian Federation is increasing, especially due to mobilization that continues in remote regions despite official announcements of its completion.

Confirmed by Defense Forces on October 20 this year, a strike on an enemy repair base and technical equipment in the area of Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region.

Air force of the Defense Forces carried out 16 strikes over the past day. Confirmed destruction of three strongholds and ten areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment, as well as three enemy air defense positions. In addition, our anti-aircraft units on various fronts shot down an enemy Su-25 aircraft and one drone of type "Orlan-10".

Over the past day, rocket forces and artillery inflicted damage on two command points, fourteen areas of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment, ammunition depot, S-300 air defense system of the enemy, enemy artillery at firing positions and five more important targets.
