Note for your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on October 16, 2022, regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The two hundred and thirty-fifth day of heroic resistance against Russia's large-scale invasion has begun.

The enemy is attempting to hold temporarily occupied territories, concentrating efforts on attempts to halt the actions of the Defense Forces at certain points, while also trying to conduct offensive operations along the Bakhmut and Avdiivka axes.

The adversary is shelling our positions along the entire line of contact, conducting engineering equipment of defensive positions and sectors at certain points, and carrying out aerial reconnaissance. In violation of international humanitarian law, laws, and customs of war, it is striking critical infrastructure and civilian housing.

During the past day, the enemy carried out five missile strikes and 23 air attacks, conducted up to 60 shelling with multiple rocket launchers.

The adversary's attacks affected objects and civilians in areas of more than 30 populated places. Among these are Nikopol and Shakhtarske in the Dnipropetrovsk region; Gluhkivka in Kharkiv Oblast; Orikhiv and Mali Shcherbakhy in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Dmitrivka — Kyiv Oblast; Bilyhorodka in Kherson Oblast, and Vuhledar in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Volynian and Polesian axes, the situation remains unchanged. There is a threat of missile and air strikes, as well as the use of Shahed-136 attack drones from the territory of Belarus.

On other fronts, the enemy carried out shelling:

on the Northern axis— with artillery of various types in the areas of populated places Mykolaivka Chernihiv Oblast and Pokrovka Sumy Oblast. Used attack drones as well;

on the Slobozhanskyi axis— with tanks, mortars, field artillery, and multiple rocket launchers in the areas of populated places Strilchecha, Horytseve, Starytsia, Gatyshche, Pyskan, Kamianka, and Dvorichna;

on the Kramatorskyi axis— with tanks and various caliber artillery along the entire line of contact, particularly in the areas of populated places Bilyhorivka, Chervonne, Mala Tokmakha, Novyiegorivka, Rozdolivka, and Serhiivka.

On the Bakhmutskyi and Avdiivskyi axes, the enemy carried out shelling with tanks, mortars, field artillery, and multiple rocket launchers along the line of contact.

On the Novopavlivskiy and Zaporizhzhia axes, the adversary shelled more than 15 populated places. Among them are Vuhledar, Veremivka, Paraskovyivka, Preshchytyvka, and Shcherbakhy.

On the Southern Buzhskyi axis, areas of more than 25 populated places along the line of contact suffered fire damage.

Violations of international humanitarian law, laws, and customs of war have become a norm on temporarily occupied territories for Russian occupation forces. In the inhabited area of Rubizhne in Luhansk Oblast, reinforcements from military personnel from Chechnya began to forcibly evict civilians from private housing to accommodate their officers.

According to updated information, the results of enemy fire damage have been confirmed. As a result of precise artillery strikes by Defense Forces in the populated place Marhipol in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, an ammunition depot was destroyed and over 20 occupiers were injured. In Tokmak, ten units of military equipment were destroyed and up to 40 servicemen were injured. In Polohy — around 30 wounded occupiers. In Kamianets-Dniprovs'kyi, seven units of military equipment were destroyed and nearly 40 enemy servicemen were injured. The number of fatalities that the occupiers are trying to carefully hide is being verified.

During the past day, subunits of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled attacks by the adversary in the areas of populated places Torske and Spyrne on the Kramatorskyi axis, Berezhnoe, Sverdlovsk, and Bakhmut on the Bakhmutskyi axis, as well as Mariinka, Pobedy, and Nevelskoye on the Avdiivskyi axis.

The aviation of the Defense Forces during the past day delivered 32 strikes. Confirmed damage to 24 areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment, as well as eight positions of air defense missile systems of the adversary. In addition, our subunits of anti-aircraft defense on various axes shot down six drones and one enemy helicopter.

Rocket forces and artillery over the past day damaged three areas of concentration of manpower, weapons, and military equipment, one ammunition depot, seven targets of air defense systems of the adversary, and other military objectives.
