Today, May 31 in Nyon, Switzerland, during the draw procedure for the first round of qualification for Euro-2022/2023, the Ukrainian women's U17 national team learned the names of their opponents.

The ceremony determined the group compositions and hosts of this year’s mini-tournaments in both leagues. The Ukrainian women's team ended up in Group A6, where they will play against Denmark, England, and Estonia.

In League A, 28 teams (including seven that moved from League B based on the results of the second round of the 2021/2022 season, which concluded this spring) are participating. They were divided into seven groups. Teams in one group will play at a single venue in mini-tournament format. Teams finishing fourth in their groups will continue to the next round in League B.

The seeding for the second round will depend on the positions teams secure in the first round. Estonia will also participate, despite having a direct qualification spot as hosts of the final stage.

Teams in League B (including those that dropped from League A at the end of the 2021/2022 season) compete for promotion to League A across six groups. Group winners and runners-up with the best record against teams finishing first and third will move up.

After the draw, hosts of mini-tournaments will be determined. Matches will take place from August 1 to November 20, 2022.

As a reminder, due to full-scale aggression by Russia and martial law in Ukraine, our team could not participate in the second round of Euro-2022 qualification and formally secured the last, fourth place in their group. However, UEFA’s Executive Committee, through disqualification of Russia, made a decision to keep the Ukrainian women's team in the elite division. Thus, they ended up in Pot 3 for League A.
