Note for your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 05.05.2022 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

The seventieth day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the Russian military invasion has begun.

The enemy continues to conduct offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone with the aim of establishing full control over the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as maintaining a land corridor with temporarily occupied Crimea.

At the same time, the adversary is provoking tension in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova. It is regrouping troops on certain fronts, replenishing supplies, and attempting to improve the tactical position of its units.

On the Volynian, Polesian, and Northern Directions, the enemy did not conduct active operations.

On the Slobozhansky Direction, the adversary continues to shell the city of Kharkiv and conducts reconnaissance against positions of the Defense Forces. In the area north of Izium, artillery and mortar shelling is ongoing.

On the Donetsk and Tavriysky Directions, enemy artillery shelling along the line of contact continues. The adversary uses operational-tactical and army aviation for rocket-bombardment missions aimed at restraining our forces.

Units of the enemy are attempting offensive operations on Lyman, Severodonetsk, and Popasna Directions, without success.

In the Avdiyivka and Kryukiv Directions, the adversary continues to shell positions of Ukrainian defenders.

At Mariupol area, main efforts of Russian occupiers are focused on blocking and attempts to destroy our units in the «Azovstal» plant area. With air support, the enemy has renewed its offensive with the aim of taking control over the territory of the plant.

According to available information, part of the servicemen of the 38th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the 35th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District, after being redeployed to a recovery area due to significant personnel losses, refused further participation in combat operations on Ukrainian territory. The mentioned servicemen are located near the Ukrainian-Russian border and await transfer to the Russian Federation.

Units of the 2nd Army Corps of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District, which are stationed in a populated area of Svatovo district of Luhansk region, are manned by local residents from nearby settlements. They have low morale and significant issues with armament and protective equipment, and are not ready to perform their tasks.

On the Southern Bug Direction, the enemy did not conduct active combat operations. It carried out rocket-bombardment strikes on our positions and infrastructure in the region.

Thanks to successful actions of Ukrainian defenders, the adversary has lost control over several populated areas at the border between Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

Over the previous day, units of air defense forces of the Air Force and Ground Forces shot down nine aerial targets: four UAVs (two of them — by anti-aircraft missile subunits of the Ground Forces) and three cruise missiles. Also two aircraft were destroyed (previously — Su-30 destroyers). Information is being verified.

On the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, eleven enemy attacks were repelled over the past day, five tanks, seven units of armored combat vehicles, and five units of enemy motorized equipment were destroyed.
