Ukraine U-19 team defeated Italy in the third round of the European Championship. Pay attention to the post-match interview with our team's head coach, Dmitry Mykhaylichenko.

"Today we achieved a historic event – three consecutive wins."

"It hasn't happened before? Then it's twice as pleasant. It was very difficult. We understood that Italy could not afford to lose, this might put their group exit in doubt. We decided on a rotation strategy to give some rest to the players who had carried the load in the first two games. I think the opponent thought they would dominate. Indeed, maybe they could have scored first. But it turned out differently, that's football. We withstood the initial pressure and then entered the game quite well, playing with the ball. Yes, we wanted to create more opportunities. Unfortunately, this did not happen."

In the second half, we spent a lot of time in defense. If we are honest, the opponent had many shots on our goal and crosses. But if you analyze the shots, there were really only two dangerous moments for us. The same goes for us. The boys are just amazing. It's hard to defend when there is so much pressure, with a lot of crosses and 13 corners. But we managed, we prepared for this. We knew it would be difficult, but you have to be careful and endure.

"Did Olijchenko make a masterpiece?"

"The attack was excellent. The attack went through the center, calmly advancing the ball. Olijchenko's actions were indeed fantastic. I think he will remember this goal for a long time. I would like to highlight our team in general because we played with the ball, possession 50-50. We understood that it was difficult to compete against them - you have to play with the ball and keep possession. And I believe this worked out for us. Unfortunately, there were some issues in the third zone, but still, the boys did what we asked."

"After the match, a representative of the Italian team came into your dressing room."

"It happened, by the way, at the previous Euro as well. We beat them then, 3-2, and qualified from the group stage. We were in a difficult situation back then, we needed a win. Now I'm very surprised that Italy is out, but this is football. It's great that they found the strength to greet us. They thanked us for the game and said they always support us during our war. It's always nice to hear this, so a big thank you to Italian leadership."

"Today we played a zero score for the first time at this European Championship. Is this an achievement?"

"It is an achievement. Indeed, it's not often that you can achieve a zero score with 30 shots on your goal. This is first and foremost the goalkeeper's merit who played excellently. Den is great, this once again shows that we have a strong team. The same Olijchenko scored the goal. Maybe he wasn't very satisfied that he didn't get any minutes. But we talked about it, said everyone will get their time, everyone will have an opportunity to be called upon. And the boys were ready for it, we are all pleased."
