The day before the decisive match between Ukraine and Iceland for the 2026 World Cup qualification in Warsaw, the Ukrainian Football Association and the Icelandic Football Association signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The day before the decisive match for the 2026 World Cup qualifier between Ukraine and Iceland in Warsaw, the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) and the Icelandic Football Association (IFA) signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The UAF and IFA confirmed their shared interest in developing football projects, improving the quality of educational programs, exchanging experiences, and implementing modern methods for training athletes, coaches, and technical sector professionals.

From the Ukrainian side, the document was signed by UAF President Andriy Shevchenko; from the Icelandic side — IFA President Thorvaldur Erlingsson.

According to the memorandum, the parties will cooperate in particular through the following areas:

— organizing and participating in football tournaments for men's and women's teams of all age categories and levels (including charity matches);

— conducting technical and educational courses for coaches and technical staff, as well as exchanging knowledge and experience among national association employees and other involved experts;

— organizing seminars and conferences aimed at developing professional competencies;

— exchanging experiences in the field of construction and management of sports infrastructure, equipment, materials, technologies, and methodologies related to football;

— cooperation in the fields of sports science and sports medicine, including adaptive football;

— considering opportunities for implementing joint charitable projects and grant programs in mass, adaptive, youth, and women's football;

— interaction in the field of security and shaping policies aimed at developing violence-free football.
