The head coach of our team, Oleh Bortnyk, commented on the official website of the Ukrainian Football Association about the latest news regarding the national team's preparation.

— The training camp took place in Lviv. We completed everything we planned. In particular, we played two friendly matches — against first league "Nadvirna" and elite "Ladomir."

— Why did your players play two friendlies during the short-term preparation period?

— To get more game practice. After all, only six of my players have played three matches this year. Of course, that's not enough.

We called up 24 players to Lviv, but only 20 were supposed to travel to England for the tournament. And after the friendly matches, we decided that Svіtлana Snіgur, Viktorіya Savkіna, Yana Boreiko, and Tetяna Kadira would not be joining us. Of course, it was a bit disappointing for them, but everything was done according to sports principles. After all, they had the opportunity to train in proper conditions, enrich their experience, which will certainly come in handy.

— Now about the tactics, what tactical scheme did your players use during the friendlies?

— 4-3-3. Of course, when we had to defend, we tried different variants, including with two midfielders.

— Have you already decided on the captain?

— Yes, it's Lidia Zaborovets. By the way, she has been trusted with the armband before.

— Do you have information about your opponents?

— No complaints here, we studied video recordings of all recent matches of our opponents. I won't hide, they made a strong impression. The first match against Austria will be key because the next opponents — Belgium and the hosts — in my opinion, are more experienced. Of course, the main task is to stay in the elite division. For this, we need not to finish last in our group.

— When do you leave for England?

— On April 1st, via Poland, we will head to Manchester and then relocate to the town of Burton-on-Trent, where on the next day we will face Austria.

As a reminder, in the first round of the U-19 League A, Ukraine's women's youth national team secured first place and qualified for the League A. 

In Group A3 of the second qualifying round for Euro 2025 (WU-19), blue-and-yellow will play against Austria (April 2nd), Belgium (April 5th) and England (April 8th). The matches will take place in Burton-on-Trent, England at St. George's Park.

In the second qualifying round, seven teams will be determined to join Poland in the final stage of the European Championship among women under 19 years old, as well as teams that will move from one league to another. Poland, despite automatic qualification for the finals, will participate in the qualifiers. The seeding at the draw for the second round was based on the positions held by the national teams after the first round.

In League A, seven groups with 28 teams each will compete, including seven teams that advanced from League B following the results of the first round. The winners of the seven groups in League A (and the best runner-up if Poland finishes first in their group) will earn spots at the finals. Teams finishing fourth in their groups will start the 2025/2026 season in League B.

In League B, 23 teams across six groups are competing for promotion to League A in the next round of qualifiers.

The mini-tournaments of the second qualifying round will conclude by April 8, 2025, while the final stage will take place from June 15—27.
