Today, on March 8th, the Ukrainian women's national team WU-17 will start their second qualifying round for the 2025 European Championship in Murcia, Spain. Their first opponent will be the hosts (kick-off at 13:00 Kyiv time).

As a reminder, the Ukrainian women's national team WU-17 secured the top spot in their group during the first round of Group L and qualified for Group A.

In Group A1 of the second qualifying round for the Euro 2025 (WU-17), the blue-and-yellow team will play against Spain (March 8th), Belgium (March 11th) and Iceland (March 14th). The matches will take place in Murcia, Spain at Pinatar Arena and Estadio Nueva Condomina.

The day before, our girls held a training camp in Ternopil where they played a friendly match against the Zhytomyr Polissya (2:3). After that, the Ukrainians traveled to Spain via Krakow. If 24 players participated in the pre-tournament matches, then only 20 made it to the official game roster. The team will not have the injured Viktoriya Savkina, as well as Yuliia Palamarchuk, Valeriya Rudenko and Uliana Solovyova.

"Are the Spanish favorites in our group? Yes. By the way, we will face them right away in the first round. The difficulty lies in the fact that my players trained on artificial turf, but we will play on grass. On the other hand, we will have a chance to gather more information about our next opponents from Belgium and Iceland. The main task is to avoid finishing last and stay among the strongest teams," — noted head coach of the Ukrainian women's national team Lyudmila Lemesko on the eve of the tournament.

In the second qualifying round, seven teams will be determined to join the Faroe Islands at the final stage of the European Championship among women's under-17 teams. Additionally, teams that move from one league to another will also be decided. The seeding for the draw in the second round was based on the positions the teams held after the first round.

In Group A, seven groups with 28 teams each will compete, including seven teams that advanced from Group L after the first round. Seven group winners in Group A of the second qualifying round will earn spots at the final stage, which will take place between May 4 and May 17, 2025. Teams finishing fourth in their groups will start the next season (2025/2026) in Group L.

In Group L, 21 teams, including those that were relegated after the autumn stage from Group A, will compete in six groups for promotion to Group A of the next qualifying round.
