Today, November 19, Ukraine’s U-19 team (players born in 2006 and later) concluded their campaign in the EURO 2025 qualifying round.
The Blue and Yellows traveled to the Netherlands to compete in Group 1 of the qualification stage. Dmytro Mykhailenko’s side started with a 1:2 loss to Kazakhstan, followed by a 0:1 defeat against Slovenia, which eliminated their chances of advancing to the Elite Round.
In their final match, played in Veendam against the host nation, Ukraine looked to end on a high note. Early in the game, Synchuk tested the Dutch goalkeeper with a free kick, while Husol’s effort was blocked, and Synchuk later missed just wide of the far post. However, Netherlands broke the deadlock in the 39th minute when Sliti finished off a counterattack following a Ukrainian corner, outpacing Bakus in a one-on-one.
The second half saw Netherlands dominate possession. Despite a few attempts from the Ukrainian side, including a late chance for Vernattus, the visitors failed to find the net. With a 0:1 defeat, Ukraine finished last in the group without earning a point.
