The first opponents for the representatives of Ukraine will be determined on June 19, when pairs for the second qualifying round of the Champions League and the second qualifying round of the Conference League will be drawn. The first matches for domestic teams at these stages are scheduled for July 23–25.
In total, five clubs will represent Ukraine in European competitions.
The Vbet League champion, "Shakhtar," will receive a direct entry to the Champions League group stage.
The silver medalist, "Dynamo," will enter the second qualifying round of the Champions League. To reach the Champions League group stage, it must overcome three opponents. In case of failure at any stage, our representative will move on to the Europa League, but only if they manage to defeat one opponent in the Champions League; otherwise, they will have to go through qualification for both competitions. There is also a third chance to secure a European autumn campaign after two failures — in the Conference League qualifier.
One club will represent Ukraine in the Europa League — "Kryvbas," starting from the third qualifying round. In case of failure in the Europa League qualification, it will automatically move on to the Conference League, but only if they manage to defeat one opponent in the Europa League.
In the basic register of the Conference League, the country will have two delegates. The fourth and fifth teams of the UPL ("Dnipro-1" and "Polesye") will start from the second qualifying round. Thus, our clubs will need to overcome three opponents to reach the main grid of the Conference League.
It should be noted that in the group stages of all three European competitions, 36 clubs will participate.
The biggest change will be the transition from a traditional group stage to a single league stage including all participating teams. Now, each club in the Champions League will have guaranteed at least eight matches during the league phase against eight different opponents (four home and four away), instead of the previous six matches against three teams played both home and away. The top eight clubs in the league automatically qualify for the knockout round, while teams placed from ninth to 24th compete in a two-legged playoff to secure their path to the Round of 16.
Analogous changes will be applied to the Europa League (eight matches during the league phase) and the Conference League (six matches during the league phase).
The 7th and 8th rounds of the Champions League and Europa League will take place in January 2025. The Conference League will conclude with the sixth round in December.
