After Real's victorious Champions League final-2023/2024, the representatives of Ukraine for the European club tournaments in season-2024/2025 have been determined.
For us, the Euroseason starts on June 19 when the pairs for the second qualifying round of the Champions League and the second qualifying round of the Conference League will be drawn. The first matches for domestic teams at these stages are scheduled for July 23-25.
In total, five clubs will represent Ukraine in European competitions.
The Vbet League champion, "Shakhtar," will receive a direct entry into the Champions League group stage.
The silver medalist, "Dynamo," will enter the second qualifying round of the Champions League. To advance to the Champions League group stage, it must overcome three opponents. In case of failure at any stage, our representative will move on to the Europa League, but only if they manage to defeat one opponent in the Champions League; otherwise, qualification through the Europa League will also be necessary. There is a third chance to secure a place in the European autumn by advancing through the Conference League.
One club will represent Ukraine in the Europa League—"Kryvbas," in the third qualifying round. In case of failure in the Europa League qualification, it will automatically move on to the Conference League, but only if they manage to defeat one opponent in the Europa League.
In the basic register of the Conference League, the country will have two delegates. The fourth and fifth teams of the UPL ("Dnipro-1" and "Polesye") will start in the second qualifying round. Thus, our clubs will need to overcome three opponents to reach the main draw of the Conference League.
We add that 36 clubs will participate in each group stage of all three European competitions.
The biggest change will be the transition from the traditional group stage to a single league stage, which includes all participating teams. Now, in the Champions League, every club will have guaranteed at least eight matches during the league stage against eight different opponents (four home and four away), instead of the previous six matches against three teams played both home and away. The top eight teams in the league automatically advance to the knockout phase, while teams ranked ninth through 24th compete in a two-legged playoff to secure their path to the round of 16.
Similar changes will also be applied to the Europa League (eight matches during the league stage) and the Conference League (six matches during the league stage).
The seventh and eighth rounds of the Champions League and Europa League will take place in January 2025. The Conference League will conclude with its sixth round in December.
