Ukrainian futsal student teams conclude group stage at World Championship in Shanghai

From now until June 16th, the World Futsal Championship among men's and women's student teams is taking place in Shanghai, China, with Ukraine participating.

Following the draw, the opponents for our men's national team are New Zealand, Croatia, and Mongolia (Group C), while the women's national team will face China, Brazil, and Germany (Group A).

Fourteen teams are competing in the men's tournament and seven in the women's. Players up to 25 years old - born in 1999 and younger - are eligible to participate.

Today, June 12th, marked the final matches of the group stage. Ukraine's men's team crushed Mongolia (8:1), while the women's team fell to Brazil (2:6).

On June 14th, in the quarterfinals, Ukraine will face the second team from Group B. The game will kick off at 13:30 Kyiv time.

Now Ukraine will compete for 5th to 7th place against the third teams from Groups B and A. The blue-yellow matches will take place on June 14th (04:30 Kyiv time) and June 15th (06:45 Kyiv time).

Play-off matches will take place on June 14-16. The top two teams from each group will advance to the men's quarterfinals and the women's semifinals.

It's worth noting that two years ago, Ukraine's men's student team won silver medals in Portugal, while the women's team finished fifth.
