Mykhailo Ivanovych was born on September 19, 1948, in Sumy Oblast.

As a player for Kyiv's "Dynamo," he won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. With the national teams of the USSR, he was a silver medalist at Euro-1972 and a bronze medalist at the 1976 Olympics.

During his coaching career as head coach of Kyiv's "Dynamo," he became champion of Ukraine and won the Ukrainian Cup.

From 2012 to 2016, he was the head coach of the national team of Ukraine. Under his leadership, the national team played 37 matches (24 wins, six draws, and seven losses) and qualified for Euro-2016.

Mykhailo Ivanovych is a Master of Sports of Merited Status, an Honored Coach of Ukraine, and has been awarded the Order of Merit I, II, and III degrees.
