To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6:00 on January 12, 2024 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred eighty-eighth day of large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has begun.

The enemy continues to ignore laws and customs of war, uses tactics of terror, carries out air strikes and artillery attacks not only on military targets but also on numerous civilian objects in our country.

During the past day, there were 64 combat engagements. In total, the enemy carried out three air raids and conducted 16 rocket artillery attacks on positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries among civilians. Residential buildings, professional lyceum, and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.

Air strikes were carried out in Severodonetsk of the Donetsk region; Tyagynka, Daryivka of the Kherson region.

More than 130 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions were under artillery fire.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "North" on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi directions the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening directions, increases mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Khortytsia" on the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two attacks by the enemy near Sinkyvka, Kharkiv region.

On the Lyman direction our defenders repelled six attacks by occupiers in areas of Makieyevka, Luhansk region and east of Ternovka, Donetsk region.

On the Bakhmut direction our soldiers repelled an attack by the enemy near Klyshchyivka, Donetsk region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Tavria" on the Avdiyivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy who does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiyivka. Our soldiers firmly hold their defense, inflicting significant losses on aggressors. Thus, forces of defense repelled 10 enemy attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiyivka and another 17 attacks near Pervomayskoye and Nevelskye, Donetsk region during the past day.

On the Mariupol direction Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold back occupiers in areas of Georgiyevka, Mariupol, and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, where 13 attacks were repelled.

On the Shakhtarsk direction the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) operations.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction forces of defense repelled three attacks by the enemy west of Verbovyi, Zaporizhzhia region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Odessa" on the Kherson direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to conduct actions for expanding their foothold. Despite significant losses, the enemy does not give up attempts to drive our units from occupied positions. During the past day, the enemy carried out three unsuccessful assault operations on positions of forces of defense.

At the same time, our soldiers continue active actions inflicting casualties and technical losses on occupation troops along the entire front line.

During the day, aviation of forces of defense carried out strikes against two areas of enemy personnel concentration.

Subunits of rocket troops inflicted damage to two areas of enemy personnel concentration, armaments and military equipment, command post and ammunition depot of the enemy.
