To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6:00 AM on January 9, 2024 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred eighty-fifth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

The Russian Federation continues to ignore laws and customs of war, employs terror tactics, carries out missile and air strikes, and shells both military and numerous civilian objects in our country with multiple rocket launchers.

During the past day, there were 67 combat encounters. In total, the enemy carried out 55 missile and 22 air strikes, conducted 35 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launchers on positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among civilians. Civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, has been damaged.

Air strikes were carried out in Petrovka, Ivanivka, Kislivka, Tabayivka, Pyskanе, Berehovo of Kharkiv Oblast; Seredynskyi forest district of Luhansk Oblast; Novoselivka of Donetsk Oblast.

Under artillery fire were approximately 130 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "North" on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi directions the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening directions, increases mine-explosive barriers along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Khortytsia" on the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Lyman direction our soldiers repelled two attacks by occupiers east of Terny, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut direction our defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the areas of Klyshchyivka and Andriyivka, Donetsk Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Tavria" on the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy who does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers firmly hold their defense, inflicting significant losses on occupiers. Thus, over the past day, our forces repelled three attacks by the enemy near Avdiivka, Severnyy, Tonenky and another 15 attacks near Pervomayskoye and Nevelskoye of Donetsk Oblast.

On the Mariupol direction our forces continue to hold back aggressors in the areas of Georgiyivka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk Oblast, where 12 attacks were repelled.

On the Shakhtarsk direction the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) operations.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction our forces repelled seven attacks by the enemy south of Chervono, west of Verbove and north of Novoprokopivka.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Odessa" on the Kherson direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to conduct actions for expanding their foothold. Despite significant losses, the enemy does not give up attempts to drive our units from occupied positions. Over the past day, the enemy carried out 12 unsuccessful assault operations on the positions of our forces.

At the same time, our soldiers continue active actions inflicting casualties and technical losses on occupying troops along the entire front line.

During the past day, Ukrainian air defense units destroyed 18 cruise missiles X-101/X-555/X-55.

Subunits of rocket forces inflicted damage on two enemy ammunition depots.
