To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6:00 on January 2, 2024 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred seventy-eighth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

The Russian Federation continues to ignore laws and customs of warfare, employs tactics of terror, carries out missile and air strikes, and shelled both military and numerous civilian objects in our country with multiple rocket launchers.

During the past day, 64 combat engagements took place. In total, the enemy delivered one missile strike and 113 air strikes, carried out 84 attacks with multiple rocket launchers on positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among civilians. Private residential buildings, other civilian and industrial infrastructure were damaged or destroyed.

During the night, Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine using 35 Shahed-136/131 UAVs. The anti-aircraft defense system destroyed all enemy "Shaheds."

Air strikes were carried out on Korenok in Sumy Oblast; Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Chernenkha in Kharkiv Oblast; Serednyansky Forest District in Luhansk Oblast; Spirene, Terni, Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Novomykhailivka, Mariinka, Georgiyivka, Staromayorskoye, Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk Oblast; Novodarivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Under artillery fire were about 110 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "North" on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky directions the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening sectors, increases mine-explosive barriers along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Khortytsia" on the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attacks near Sinykivka and east of Petropavlivka, Kharkiv Oblast, where the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to break through our troops' defense.

On the Lyman direction occupiers did not conduct offensive (assault) operations.

On the Bakhmut direction our soldiers repelled 10 attacks by the enemy in the areas of Bogdanivka, Klyshchyivka and Andriyivka, Donetsk Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Tavria" on the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy who does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers firmly hold their defense, inflicting heavy losses on aggressors. Thus, during the past day, forces of defense repelled four attacks by the enemy near Novobakhmutivka, Stepovoye and Avdiivka as well as 19 more attacks in the areas of Pervomaysky and Nevelsky, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Mariinka and Shakhtarsk directions occupiers did not conduct offensive (assault) operations.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction, forces of defense repelled three attacks by the enemy near Robotino, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Odessa" on the Kherson direction, Ukrainian soldiers continue to conduct actions for expanding their foothold. Despite heavy losses, the enemy does not give up attempts to drive our units from occupied positions. Thus, during the past day, the enemy carried out 19 unsuccessful assault operations.

At the same time, forces of defense of Ukraine continue active actions inflicting casualties in manpower and equipment on occupying troops along the entire front line.

During the past day, our aviation delivered strikes against 13 areas of enemy personnel concentration.

Subunits of rocket forces inflicted damage to an area of enemy personnel concentration, armaments and military equipment, six artillery systems, three anti-aircraft defense means and a command post of the enemy.
