To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6:00 on December 17, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred and sixty-second day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

The enemy continues to ignore laws and customs of war, uses tactics of terror, carries out missile and air strikes, shelling with multiple rocket launchers not only at military but also civilian objects in our country.

Over the past day, 89 combat encounters took place. In total, the enemy carried out four missile and 72 air strikes, conducted 92 shelling attacks with multiple rocket launchers on positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among civilians. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.

Yesterday, the occupiers once again attacked Ukraine using 34 drones of Shahed-136/131 type. All attacking drones were destroyed by air defense forces and means.

Also today, Russian occupiers carried out another drone attack with seven Shahed-136/131 drones. All enemy drones were destroyed.

Air strikes hit Bolohivka, Synykhivka, Petro-Pavlivka, Ivanivka, Pyskanе, Berestove in Kharkiv region; Seredynskiy forest district in Luhansk region; Terny, Minkivka, Druzhba, Pivnichne, New York, Oleksandrопіль, Ocheretinе, Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Novomikhailivka in Donetsk region.

Over 110 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions were hit by artillery fire.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «North» on Volynian and Polissian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On Northern and Slobozhansky directions the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening sectors, increases density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Khortytsia» on Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 enemy attacks near Synykhivka, Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk region.

On Lyman direction our defenders repelled six attacks of the occupiers in the area of Seredynskiy forest district, Luhansk region and east of Terny, Donetsk region.

On Bakhmut direction Ukrainian warriors repelled 12 enemy attacks near Bogdanivka, Ivanivske, Klyshchyivka and Andriyivka in Donetsk region. Defense forces continue to inflict losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment, consolidating on gained positions.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Tavria» on Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy who does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our warriors firmly hold their defense, inflicting significant losses on aggressors. Defense forces successfully repelled 17 attacks of the enemy east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove and Avdiivka as well as another 13 attacks in areas of Nevelskoye and Pervomaiskoye Donetsk region.

On Mariupol direction our warriors continue to hold back the enemy in areas of Mariupol, Victory and Novomikhailivka in Donetsk region. Here 12 attacks were successfully repelled.

On Shakhtarsk direction the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) operations.

On Zaporizhzhia direction defense forces repelled 12 attacks of the enemy west of Novopavlovske and Robotinoye in Zaporizhzhia region.

At the same time on Melitopol direction, Ukrainian warriors continue to inflict losses on occupiers in manpower and equipment through active actions, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Odessa» on Kherson direction defense forces continue to hold positions on the left bank of Dnipro, conducting counter-battery fire, inflicting artillery strikes on enemy rear.

Over the past day, aviation of defense forces carried out attacks on 21 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment of the enemy.

Subunits of rocket troops inflicted damage to seven areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, command post, two air defense means, thirteen artillery systems, two ammunition depots and propellant materials of the enemy.
