The head coach of the Ukraine national futsal team, Oleksandr Kosyntsev, commented on their victory over Belgium (8:2) in the elite round of the qualification for the 2024 World Cup. The words of the blue-and-yellow team's leader are provided by the press service of the Ukrainian Futsal Association.

— Are you satisfied with your team's performance today?

— Yes, I am pleased both with the game and the result. Thank you to the boys for their skill, dedication, emotions, and teamwork. We need to maintain that spirit and enthusiasm for the match against Poland. As we thought, everything will be decided in the end. It's good that it depends on us. We need a win over the Poles, and we will prepare for this very important game.

— The coach of the Belgian team noted that Poland is physically stronger but Ukraine plays better with the ball and looks more professional as a team. Do you agree?

— I think so. Every team has its strengths, which it uses to earn points and qualification points. So I believe that the Belgian coach correctly characterized the Polish national team. It is a very strong and physically powerful team. But we have our own strengths as well, and through our play and these strengths, we will strive for victory.

Elite Round

Matches: 11—20 September, 2—11 October, 11—20 December 2023.

Twenty national teams are divided into five groups of four teams each. Matches take place home and away. The five group winners will qualify for the Futsal World Cup 2024. Four best second-place finishers advance to the elite round play-offs. 

Elite Round Play-Offs

Drawing: 25 January 2024.

Matches: 8—17 April 2024.

Four teams will be drawn into two pairs, and matches will take place home and away. The winners of the pairs will qualify for the Futsal World Cup 2024.

The World Cup will take place in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6, 2024.
