Officially. Andriy Shevchenko has been put forward as a candidate for election as president of the UAF

The Executive Committee of the UAF, based on appeals from members of the UAF and in accordance with the Statutes of the Ukrainian Association of Football, has approved the decision to hold an extraordinary XXVI Congress of the UAF on January 25, 2024, at the House of Football (city).

The UEFA Executive Committee, based on applications from members of the Ukrainian Football Association (UFA) and in accordance with the Statutes of the UFA, has approved the decision to hold an extraordinary XXVI Congress of the UFA on January 25, 2024, at the House of Football (Kyiv), starting at 12:00.

The agenda for the congress was also approved, one of the items being "On the election of the President of the UFA."

According to the statutes, the president of the UFA can be elected by any eligible person under 70 years old who is a citizen of Ukraine and a delegate at the congress.

"The candidacy for election as President of the UFA may be proposed by any permanent member of the UFA and must have the minimum support from at least one-third of the permanent members of the UFA," — in particular, this is stated in the Statutes of the Ukrainian Football Association.

As of December 12, 2023, the administration of the Ukrainian Football Association received protocols from meetings of the governing bodies of 14 permanent members of the UFA. All of them have put forward Andriy Mykolayovych Shevchenko (date of birth — September 29, 1976) for election as President of the UFA – winner of the "Golden Ball" in 2004, Hero of Ukraine, and recipient of the Order "National Legend of Ukraine."

It is known that there are 27 organizations among permanent members of the UFA. Accordingly, one-third consists of nine of them.

Members of the UFA who have submitted to the administration of the Ukrainian Football Association properly completed written decisions of their management bodies regarding the nomination of Andriy Shevchenko as a candidate for election as President of the UFA:
